Ex Grammatics Owen Brinley - new band, new track
Well, got this in my inbox this week. It's on Bandcamp, the band (solo project?)is called Department M, the song Pharmacy.
http://deptm.bandcamp.com
I love Owen's voice, he could be selling me Drum'n Bass and I would like it. So, I'm not terribly objective when I hear him sing.
Your thoughts on the new direction?
Still 'Grammatics' in places I think, a bit heavier on the electronics.

Grammatics
Caught their debut gig the other week
They're a lot more synth-driven and broody than Grammatics (I certainly wouldn't expect anything like Relentless Fours or the Vague Archive this time round), though most songs feature guitar it's not to the fore as it was previously. Still very impressive and I can't wait to hear the album
Can't wait either!
What were the other songs like? Do we know when others are going to come out? I really wish I was in Leeds right now, I think there's another concert very soon.
Can't have been their debut gig considering that I saw them back in October but yeah they are pretty good.
But you posted in November...damn my drunk post-Six Nations marathon attempts at DiS posting.
Yes!
Sounds really promising, like it a lot. There's a really extensive interview here:

Wish his voice was a bit clearer in the mix
And it doesn't really go anywhere, but I'm looking forward to hearing more.
His voice seemed quite low in the mix live too
Wonder if he's sick of the 'boyband' accusations?
That 's what I thought
the song lacks focus but I like the 'heavy synth' sound.
Playing at Nation of Shopkeepers tonight.
Free in.
And lo, it was good
Glad to hear it
really excited about more stuff coming online.
Come on!!!!
First single and live dates in March to be announced soon.
:)
Cool
Be good to see them live again, enjoyed them at the York show, but reckon knowing the songs beforehand will be an advantage. As OP mentioned, he could just about be performing any style with his voice and I'd still dig it.

It is being released via download and 7” (ltd to 250 copies) on March 25th and is available to hear/pre-order from:

This is excellent
Great stuff.
Count me in for the OBL show as well.
Sounds great.
I've not been to Wharf Chambers yet, but plenty of good gigs seem to be getting booked there. Looking forward to it.
