anybody going, the website says 8.30-11 say a mammoth gig!
Standing ticket offered for face, otherwise I'll drag myself down there.
Apparently he's been playin loads of stuff from LGM which is cool as he hasn't played anything from that when I've seen them.
This will be the 4th time I've seen them, I'm not sure that 2.5 hours is a good length of time, there's such a thing as too much of a good thing.
but apparently not...
the support act sounds mental too.
it should be an hour and a halfish, which means he's going to do a lot of *jamming* between songs. Which can be really hit and miss.
a normal length set. Hopefully, it'll end by 10:15-ish. Enough time for a pub pint then home. I'm looking forward to it. It'll be the first time that I'll be seeing them despite the fact that I'm 36 and a very regular gig go-er. They played Reading 1998 but I saw Garbage at the main stage that year. Yes, a mistake looking back.
10:15 would be perfect, for exactly the same reason.
The best i've seen them was the don;t look back gig where they did L&GWAFIS, then brought out some brilliant covers/older songs as the encore.
they've not been anywhere near 2.5 hours.
Seems to be playing pretty much the entire last album, plus some brand new songs and a few old ones. Heard really good reviews about the gigs so far.
They played most of the new album which I'll be honest, I found pretty tedious on record and not much better live. Too many plodding ballads which they've done much better in the past. The older material sounded amazing but unfortunately also highlighted how dull a lot of the new material is. Pretty much decided that unless the next album is spectacular, I'm pretty much done with seeing them live again.
play 2.5 hours?
Probably more like 1:50 or so. Again, the older material sounded phenomenal, but as much as I want to like the newer stuff, it felt like it slowed the pace of the set to a deathly crawl which they struggled to recover from. It may have just been the set they played in Cambs, not checked any other setlists from this tour, but can't imagine they've been that different.
I'm pretty mixed on the new album, in places it is as good as anything they've ever done, in others in feels at best like later era Spiritualized by numbers, at worst really, really halfhearted.
on stage at 8:45pm when I called just now.
2 1/2 hours, all of SHSL. And some earlier stuff, I'm not posting spoilers but the track off PF was the best thing I've ever see them do live, fucking magnificent
I thought that was a brilliant gig. I've nothing more to add. I hope you guys had fun too.
As it turned out there was nothing to worry about, wish it could have been longer. Exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Amazing gig. Now just waiting for the ringing in my ears to stop...
and loved "come down easy" in the encore
I'm not a huge fan of SHSL but those songs came accross really well. Electric Mainline was a fantastic closer, that was probably the best version of LAGWAFIS that I've seen (and a nice surprise seeing as they hadn't played it on either of the recent setlists I've seen).
Crowd was pretty good, very little talking near us and no jerkish behaviour, just people enjoying the music.
relatively near me that were talking about "not going any" at the halloween party and how shit their jobs are but other than that - big thumbs up
