Who's going tonight? The last Barbican show was spellbinding, i cant wait!
and to this day my friend's have never let it down. It's not worth calling anything spellbinding.
I've heard from various sources that yeah, Efterklang put on a very good show.
I think it must've been my 13th time of seeing them, and it was brilliant as ever. Definitely better than the Parades Barbican show for me. Still really loving their latest album.
It lacked the sense of fun that makes Efterklang such a special live band. Tonight was pretty much perfect.
The sheer enjoyment on the faces of the band made it even better. Sound was perfect (as to be expected from the Barbican) and the new record sounds so full with the Sinfonia.
John Grant was great too
That was just.....brilliant. SO glad they played Monopolist too, that was definitely a surprise. They're such a warm band, it's not often you feel so special as an audience member.
it was incredible.
Only minor downside was that i was so far right of stage and close up that the drums were a bit too overpowering, but that was my positioning more than their sound. Otherwise it was stunning
I was that side too, a few rows back. Drums were quite overpowering but actually could have been much worse - I thought he had quite subtle touch rather than just blasting!
Drums were a little low in the mix from the balcony
monopolist was delicious
always warm you up so much with their smiles
Beautiful peaks - Monument, Black Summer, Apples and the long orchestral bit at the end of The Living Layer - but the odd meh bit, too, and I think that's down to the overall glacialness of the record and the loss of dynamic range thanks to the orchestra.
I agree that the band's warmth is a strongpoint, but I share a little of my partner's misgivings (she was bored to tears) about the lack of passion on Pyramida - think of the version of Alive on An Island. Or the clappy one...
Those aforementioned peaks were more than worth it for me. Gorgeous as the strings were, though, I hope we get chance to see them stripped down to the band again soon.
I bloody love his dancing, he was on top form in Warwick.
its how i spotted him!
