Bournemouth advice
I'm there this Saturday..
Which bars and pubs would you recommend? I know 60 million postcards.
I seem to recall last time everything was a chain like Yates or Spoons so did I miss something?

There's not really much bar 60MPC other than chains... Old Fire Station on Holdenhurst Road is OK - depends what's on though (iirc Saturday night is THE WORST night to go there).
Just don't go there.
I wasted 2 years of my life there. Left when I saw a friend get his head kicked in one Saturday night outside Borders. Go to Brighton instead. Or if you must go, head to Boscombe instead and go smoke a spliff in Boscombe Chine Garden.

Anyway, I'd advise you to venture to Lower Parkstone instead. Slightly less hen nights.
I come from Bmth but left about 14 years ago.
It has changed so much since then and what was the good bits are now the rubbish bits and vice versa. Basically it is pretty shit, but there can be some okay grotty boozers in Lower Parkstone and Boscombe, plus Springborne has become the nice bit after years of being awful.
There is no culture there. The beach is nice, it's actually not an unpleasant place to be, but it is pretty dull.
Amusingly I still support AFC Bournemouth and any tie a player leaves all the fans go "how could leave Bournemouth, with it's lovely beach and pier and move to London, on £20k a week, in his early twenties - must be so AWFUL"

The metal nights that were on Thursdays at Sound Circus were some of the best of my yoof.
I used to go to indie nights
pretty much every thursday and saturday for years. Hothouse/Gardening Club, and was it called Inferno? Something like that. Absolutely brilliant times.
There used to be an alright scene in Bournemouth
a few years ago. It sorta died a bit (pretty much around the same time I moved out) and all the good venues seem to have got shut down. The Blue Boar in Poole is nice and Ive heard good things about the Anvil (although Ive not been since the new name)
