Or even some stoney riffage bands that are punky like Zeke.
I like them. But PABH is like the better version imho
although "frimley" has some cracking tunes on it
it's always my stock answer when this type of thread comes up but - reuben?
I loved loved loved their Christmas single.
but find it hard listening on record. Can't get along with the guys voice.
album is 11 songs in like 17 minutes
tbh new stuff is heavier, but album is spikey and short as you could hope for
I've already listened a while ago. And I like it. And I'm a little jealous.
After making all this arty bollocks music for years I wanna go back to a band hammering out stock punk rock tunage.
has been a few people expressing jealousy that they're not in the band, cos being stupid is REALLY FUN
you might like this?
you might not like that
Bit too ramshakle perhaps. I'm after more guitar riffage and big choruses.
In fact I don't really know what I want. I'M LIKE AN EMOTIONAL RUBIK'S CUBE
It we're talking riffage and oi!
KEEP OFF THE GRASS
THE DEATH MARCH OF DINGUS KHAN
WRAPPED IN RHYTHM & DANCING LIKE A LOON
THIS IS MY CHATEAU!
HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?!
i'm not really sure if this will be to your taste.
it's absolute FILTH though, so i guess it will be
just gonna keep jagging til someone takes notice:
Ice Sea Dead People!
I dug it.
thank you very much!
YOUR DRUMMER IS ACE
only did it in a couple takes, I was desperate to start a band with him from the first time I saw him play (also he's effectively my cousin-in-law)
this is fucking great
come see us at the art school on the 22nd if you're free!
If Carlsberg made bands? Well probably more like if Turbo Reef made bands. But yeah. Quality produce.
I haven't heard any new stuff for over a year.
btw if you find it, get their debut album "Homina Homina Homina". It's great fun.
As the band are essentially split up. However, they tend to get back together two or three times a year to play a show or two in Birmingham and one in London.
Dom (guitar) is now in London recording bands and plays bass in the excellent Calories (their first two records are very relevant for this thread!). Greg (bass) is doing a solo project and DJs / promotes in Birmingham. I asked Dom the other day what John (drums) was up to at the moment, and he replied "fishing, mainly".
The album is superb but was only released in Japan for whatever reason. I only have it because I bought one directly from the band. If it can be found it is definitely worth a listen though - one of my favourite British albums of the 00's!
All their EPs have been made freely available, too. I would start here: http://metz.bandcamp.com/album/negative-space-automat
but my band are playing with METZ in Glasgow on the 22nd...
Dinosaur Pile-Up, spring immediately to mind.
Nine Black Alps
They only managed to record 10 tracks before their singer died. RIP Dom.
Take A Worm For A Walk Week
Bit more funky but still utterly addictive, Hired Muscle
but we meet many of the criteria;
