Didn't manage to spend £210 on a Glasto ticket? How about going to one of these in the UK or abroad (a this^ thread)
We should be back in Leicester with a DiS stage again in 2013 http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4145391
The amount of branding is high, and extremely in your face, but the weather is something else, and the line up is always reasonably solid.
Do not recommend camping for 5+ days though. It will break you. Get a cheap hotel room in town, and make sure you have leeway to travel for day zero. Got caught out last year and missed Prince headline.
camp the whole eight days, stay for the minus days, embrace the £.150 per litre beers, go on every ride you can find.
Sziget or death!
Hoping to have more DiS involvement next year, lots of videos from our backstage cabin last year up here: http://drownedinsound.com/lists/latitude-festival (more at http://youtube.com/drownedinsound )
abandoning deadlines/work etc for a weekend and just going, regardless of the fact we haven't any money. That lineup's worth eating into my overdraft for.
We should have a DiS stage once again here next year too http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4144945
Ok, a bit more expensive than Glastonbury (you can go for about £600, but then I know people that Glastonbury ends up costing them £200 for travel, food and booze) http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4144672
Although the next one is in a few weeks. My review of last year, really loved it: http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4143944
Probably my favourite festival in the world. Again, it's happening this year very soon, but go next year, you really won't regret it http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4143855
i went this year and it was great
I've never been and I know it's not really a music festival, but I'm struggling to think of any festival with a comparable vibe/scale etc to Glasto. In a very polite, scaled down way Latitude has a touch of it, maybe, but not REALLY.
get it together sean
was so fun this summer
One for the discerning metal fans on here. No acts have been announced for 2013 yet, but the previous line-ups should give you a fair idea of what to expect.
This is a great festival in the Netherlands with music, theater, movies, dance, street performances, over six stages and just a great crowd!
Lowlands really is three days in another world.
Two separate weekends in May and June featuring a line-up chosen by two indie music heavyweights. Both are likely to kick ass.
With a heritage to rival glasto. The Danes know how to put on a show:
a sunny glasto can rival it, but that's about a once a decade shot.
In the lovely town of Tilburg. Went for the first time this year and it was just the best. I wrote some rambling bollocks about it too: http://www.thejoycollective.co.uk/blog/review/incubate-music-festival-2012-sept-13-16-tilburg-netherlands/
Quite expensive but the Euro exchange rate is pretty good at the moment.
wonderful festival. i recommend getting a hotel rather than camping, but you can get a good room for 2 for £100pp for 4 days.
been on my to do list for far too long
I've been twice. Once in 06 and once in 09.
Considering going again..
most incredible festival site i've ever been to, google image it..
I might go next year.
had the best sound quality for an outdoor live event that i've experieinced.
The two main stages are absolutely fanstatic, and some of the smaller ones dotted around the site feel really intimate and atmospheric.
EotR was so dullthis year, I definitely need a break from it, or they need to adapt a bit. 72 hours of yawning until Grandaddy.
ATP is now not near home and is at a shitter site. Plus is so expensive. I will return at some point but not quite now.
That puts everything else in the picture for next year. In that respect, thanks for this thread.
