Blast Tyrant is probably the best intro to the band. But you can't go wrong with Pure Rock Fury. And to be fair the self titled record is pretty special.
Hmm. Here's a track off each, decide for yourself:
and have some absolutely storming tracks on them.
I'm a bit fan of the self-titled album - although I'll admit that Tight Like That is a real stinker and completely skippable and the last two tracks are pretty weak too.
NOLA is their best by an unbelievable amount of distance.
Down II has some cool grimy bits but is a bit self indulgent and while the ideas in it are cool and the vibe is solid the songs aren't always good enough.
Over The Under is a bit too polished for me, it feels more like Wiseblood/Americas Volume Dealer era CoC than anything else and bar a few cool riffs it never really kicks on. It does feature too great moments of Anselmo silliness - a song called Pillamid (see what he did there? Clever clever) and a song called I Scream in which he howls the title over and over I Scream, I Scream, Ice Cream.
Completely missed the Phil Anselmo connection until his name popped up on the video. I dug/dig Pantera so much (see Walk above) and I can hear the similarities in the groove.
Thread is full of gold, will be purchasing some Clutch in the near future as well.

Outside my usual thing...but I kinda like this band, Clutch
and wish to buy ONE Clutch record. Please advise.
My personal favourite is the Elephant Riders
Which is pretty much perfect IMO.
Blast Tyrant is probably the best intro to the band. But you can't go wrong with Pure Rock Fury. And to be fair the self titled record is pretty special.
Hmm. Here's a track off each, decide for yourself:
Elephant Riders:

Pure Rock Fury:

Yeah Blast Tyrant and Pure Rock Fury are probably the most accessible
and have some absolutely storming tracks on them.
I'm a bit fan of the self-titled album - although I'll admit that Tight Like That is a real stinker and completely skippable and the last two tracks are pretty weak too.
*big fan
OK fuck it
gonna buy Elephant, Blast and Pure Rock. Cheers!
One Clutch record, eh? ;)
You're doing the right thing.

words don't work
people only click on what they know.
I figure, anyway.
surprise is the best way; I have been converted.
people click on what they've heard of in passing
but haven't had the inclination to listen to
or they see a tasty-looking bandname and say what the hell
or the poster supplies a tart description of their offering which proves enticing enough
but what of the surprise?
maybe cryptic clues?
