Tame Impala
Hello. Let's talk about Tame Impala. I thought Innerspeaker was one of the most enjoyable records of 2010. And they're back next week with Lonerism. Wahoo.
The Guardian certainly like it:

Gwen Stefani
listened to Lonerism online
Its great. Will probably be quite high on my end of year list. I'm tempted to go and see them in London but I've read they're not as good live so I dunno. Has anyone seen them?
tame Impala
are amazing live, went to see them in Manchester 2 yrs ago.
Saw Them at Glastonbury last year
They were awful, but I think that's mostly because they were so completely out of it. They looked like they had absolutely no idea where they were. And that was at 11am. However my friend saw them in London and said they were amazing.
I was heavily into Tame Imapala in 2010 and still enjoy the album (though not as much)
but after their set at Glasto and Elephant I'm not really anticipating the 2nd album
What were they like at Glasto?
Just about the dullest live band I've ever seen
Big fan of Innerspeaker
and liked my first stream of Lonerism - I think it'll be among my favourites this year.
I caught the latter half of their set at Leeds Festival a couple of years ago and enjoyed myself; they played a cover of Blueboy's Remember Me, which was awesome. Looking forward to seeing them again at the beginning of November.
I have been listening to Lonerism a lot lately
It really is great, you can hear the Todd Rundgren influence, it's awesome.
i like the new one a lot
and i was pretty nuts about Innerspeaker, still like it a lot. Still the best song they've done is Half Glass Full of Wine
seeing them again tomorrow, pretty much going to this festival just to see them
Inventive, fascinating, trippy
though it doesn't hold my attention 100 percent, which makes me think I might "forget" about this record...much in the same way as Innerspeaker. The difference here being Lonerism is even better than their debut.
So we'll see if we remember this as one of the best psychedelic records of recent years, ala Comets on Fire (uhm... you know the blue cover one) ....
8.5/10
I really like Kevin's producer work on that...
...Melody's Echo Chamber album as well - http://stereogum.com/1024722/melodys-echo-chamber-crystallized/mp3s/
Pond are great as well, love pretty much everything these guys put themselves to at the moment
I like Tame Impala
You can hear a man educated the Black Sabbath way in it.
Innerspeaker is a bit too patchy and doesn't quite hold my attention. Haven't heard Lonerism yet - but I think if he's given time, over the course of several albums he'll produce one or two classics.
This could be even better than Innerspeaker - which I'm a big fan of
I prefer this to Innerspeaker
Listened to the stream about 3 or 4 times now, shall be downloading on release. It'll be a fiver on 7digital.
I'm really missing something here
Lot's of people I know rate them, bought that last lp and just found it a load of retro cobblers.
I can imagine the Kasabian 'boys' at the front of a Tame Impala gig really diggin' it...
so what if they did
it's good
Elephant is a bit Kasabian
but the rest of the album really is not
Brilliant brilliant brilliant
excellent record
I feel like they've upped their game in this record, it's far more psychedelic, dripping in effects, great ideas and hooks, interesting ideas and sounds. I'm really digging it, I would give it 8/10
Elephant and Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
are pretty killer.
Not been able to hear this yet... :(
Just been rinsing Innerspeaker instead. That said...I just read the Pitchfork review (which I thought was very well written) which, along with the praise in this thread, only served to heighten my excitement.
it's streaming on the guardian's site and it's a fiver on 7digital
I'll pick it up this week sometime
Without internet at home you see.
Have they ever played a Halloween set as Vlad The Impala?
Love a few of the songs in the first half of the first record
but I'd never go watch them live because I could imagine them launching into huuuuuuge jams and outros.
Probably the number one reason why I would go and see them live!
really?
I get so bored by jamming at gigs. Always seems like they're enjoying themselves far more than the audience but maybe it's just me!
Honestly!
I really like it when bands jam and play different versions of their songs live, as long as it doesn't get too self indulgent. It can be a bit of a fine line though, you're right
I love this band and this album
but they were fucking awful opening for Pulp at Glastonbury. Sounded like wanking a flaccid cock.
This
is one of if not the best album I've heard this year!
more i listen to this album, the more i love it
here's those loveable scamps from the PS22 Chorus with their take on 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards"
link would help!

I like the track they're currently using on the Made in Chelsea trailers.
Elephant, I think?
This may just be because I like Made in Chelsea a lot.
Man...this album
This album is actually very very good
never heard of them before
heard Elephant this morning, now I can't stop listening to it. Probably a good sign.
That's the worst song on the record as well.
This album
is the best thing I've heard in quite awhile, it's masterfully crafted and each and every song hooks into you and won't let go, then it's on to the next track and you are hooked again. Haven't listened to much else since it came out, I haven't even listened to the new Ty Segall record properly because of Lonerism! Shit... Lonerism is a 10/10 for me.
anything else this good this year?
Woods
Bend Beyond is pretty great. Imo.
