Memory Tapes' 'Sheila' is pretty ace eh?

I have to admit to being pretty underwhelmed by 'Player Piano' but if this is a promise of what's to come from new LP 'Grace/ Confusion' I'm definitely game.
He's going right back to what made his debut so wonderful here. Makes the hairs stand up on the back of the neck.

Gwen Stefani
I really wanted to like it
but it just didn't do it for me. I thought he went a bit overboard with the quiet/LOUD thing. I'll give it another spin though to see if I'm being a bit harsh.
Player Piano was a letdown for me too
I occasionally go back to listen to it in the hope that I'll take something from it but it all sounds so flat compared to the likes of 'Bicycle' (one of the very best tracks of the last few years IMO)
Anyway, I agree with OP - this sounds much more like it
I did really like Seek Magic
but I have low expectations for this. Player Piano was daft, and his supposed follow up to that (Sabbath inspired apparently) could have gone anywhere. Though this track IS good...it does just smack of some label guy begging Hawke to please his original fans so he doesn't fly off the radar. Of course, I'd love to be proven wrong...
agreed with Coja
and it's not a new thing..why does half the track have to be 50 times louder than the other half? if it was for dynamic impact it'd be ok but it's just annoying.
