2012: Anything good yet to come?
I put such high hopes in FlyLo's album... now i feel deflated. Are there any more albums to look forward to you before the end of the year?

I loved Sir Lucious Left Foot like crazy, one of the best albums of 2010 for sure
But jesus was that recent track from him bad. 'She Said OK' or whatever. Fucking awful.
Not really fussed about any of the tracks yet either
Then again, I don't know what is and isn't going to make the album... The first couple of SLLF singles didn't. I wouldn't be surprised if either/both of Gossip or She Said OK don't make it, but She Told Me obviously will.
All the signs suggest it won't be up there with SLLF, but I'd be surprised if he releases an album without a few big tunes on it.
Also after a couple of listens I like the new track (even with the flex bombs over the top)
Could have happily fitted in on SLLF.
SCOTT WALKER
The Soft Moon and Tamaryn
THUMPERMONKEY

Very wary (and weary) of folk putting 2012 to bed, trying to impress us with EoY lists in early October...
SUPPORT MISTLEY SWANS
The debut album from DINGUS KHAN is to set sail on the 22nd day of this very month (October).
It will be available in a physical form that measures 5” in diameter, or in a non-existent space saving digital form that measures around 90 mb in diameter.
It's so good that someone has already been compelled to say this about it;
Dingus Khan, from Essex, an eight-piece “sometimes referred to as Blur-meets-Slipknot”, are not your typical rock band. That much is a given, as a motley crew of drummers and bassists form a supersized rhythm section, while a singing guitarist and an electric ukulele player make sense of the commotion.
Opening track, ‘My Body’, sets the tone for the rest of the album. In its calmer moments, it is reminiscent of the sloppy, lo-fi approach of bands such as Pavement. Then…thwap! The ears are assaulted by a sludgy drone, overlaid with howls of delirium, and the listener descends into that nirvana of rock and roll mayhem.
The quiet-loud dynamic is actually a basic principle, and commonplace, but this interpretation of the idea is positively bipolar. And somehow, this haphazard assortment of instruments is able to coalesce without losing all melody. Just about, which is what keeps the listener on tenterhooks.
Let’s be honest. Even the fiercest advocates of heavy music could concede that the joy in volume is primal, whereas it is the content of that noise which deserves intellectual engagement. Arguably, heaviness has lost its ability to shock, and the fact that Dingus Khan have produced something so visceral yet not boneheaded is a testament to their uniqueness. It’s not technical proficiency, but fearless exploration of the sonic landscape which sets them apart. It’s quite experimental, and the structures take some fascinating detours, but there are definitely real songs to tie it together.
As the group chants in oddball Simpsons reference ‘Knifey Spoony’, ‘I couldn’t find a knife so I had to use a spoon.’ Well, it’s a good thing they chose such unusual weaponry because they are going for the jugular regardless.
8/10
"There is a new exciting music being made, with subtle harmonies and fierce grinding dischords, A music so powerful that it would drive us mad if only our ears were tuned to the sound of it…"
