Reviews (or lack thereof) of the new Bumford album
I've seen way fewer reviews of the new Bumford album than I was expecting, two notable absences being DiS and Pitchfork. I thought both would have a lot of fun laying into it. Have they been paid not to review it or something? Or does it have something to do with the fact both websites have been plastered with adverts for it and a negative review would contradict them somehow?

Bumsnogger
gotta nurture whatever credibility they both have left
the reviewers/editors know that they're not a band who are relevent to their readers interests
so they don't waste their time reviewing something that no one will care about
not like Jessie J
It’s beyond cliche these days, isn’t it?
Like saying pigs aren’t very good at farming. Probably also to do with it being less fashionable to hate the band since more mainstream outlets stopped pushing them.
Because it's a bad move to give sponsors a shit review?
I offered the Mumford album out to review
and nobody could be arsed and I sort of forgot to follow it up (which I normally do when a bigger record slips through the cracks). I dunno, we've had a few good slatings this year and there was probably room for another, but the moment sort of passed.
If we'd run a review at least one person would have said 'why is DiS even reviewing this?' so maybe on some level we've made them happy.
But absolutely no pressure from advertisers, sorry, people always seem to assume a lot more scheming and politics goes into these things than is actually the case.
that's reasonable
a little TOO reasonable if you ask me.
that all said
I do find it weird that P4K didn't review, I always assumed they aimed to be comprehensive. Bit weird they didn't review the Amanda Palmer album, too, despite devoting page after page to Albini's beef with her.
People that buy Mumford & Sons new album are not the type of people who read reviews before they buy things
their early EP good a good review on here
maybe its hard to review an album when the review in question will have no effect on whether people buy it or not.
*got
They're no longer within our realm
which is better for both of us, I expect.
Sure, I can *somewhat bewildered*
Look a little deeper and you'll find much better music elsewhere.
Easy peasy.
Next!
i
think it's quite good.
I know, god forbid, someone likes a commercial record which housewives also like, but there you go
Leaving aside the fact that I don't particularly dislike Mumford & Sons
I love reading reviews of bands that are outside the normal remit. The only exception being when NME dispatch an idiot to review a hip-hop album and they just come across as desperate to have an opinion on a genre they don't really get.
So I'm all up for reviews of pop records
