BUT I just wanted to say that 'Knights of Cydonia' came on the iPod on shuffle the other day driving down a motorway and that those 5 minutes rocking out with the missus may be the most enjoyable few minutes I've had this year.
I posted an alternative review here: http://seaninsound.tumblr.com/post/32386554535/muse-the-2nd-law-drownedinsound
an 80's tribute band on Jools, and I mean that in the most nasty way. All that was missing was John Lovitz with a bad combover shouting "CHAKA-KHAAAAAAAN...!". NO amount of wUB-wUB-wUB could make it sound like the sort of dated crap Trevor Horn used to toss off for Johnny Hates Jazz.
Proper Haircuts, Proper Kaospads, etc.
proper ripped michael jackson melodies
I don't have any more holiday to take this year but I'd quite like to know what's been written.
I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR ALL THA H8RS WITH THEIR H8FUL BELLAMY FREE LIVES. O WELL H8RSGNAH8 IT'S ALL GOOD POP INNIT
and as such are brilliant
we are all utterly royally fucked.
Bit bloody long mind you.
I dunno, I fucking unashamedly stand by Muse even up to BH&R tbh, I had the cover of Absolution muraled on my wall as a kid (teen), I've seen them ten times and always maintained I'd never miss a London date (until I missed out on the upcoming dates). I find it hilarious that anyone anywhere thinks that their tongues are anywhere other than firmly in their collective cheek and I cannot believe that people get all high and mighty about them.
All of that said, I've got no intention of listening to this album a second time, they're a fun, daft, really fucking silly band that have somehow got to a stage where they're one of the biggest bands on the planet and they're now taken a lot more seriously by critics, old fans etc than they ever intended or wanted to be. As a result you end up with a band putting out albums which are ultimately them just pissing around but with the resources and fanbase to be taken seriously with it.
I dunno, as I said, I've got no interest in giving it another listen, I've outgrown them but I can't bring myself to get all vitriolic about them, it seems insane to me.
However, if this was a flow diagram, I'd refer you to Vamos' post above :)
people talk about muse.
