Y'know, now that the weather is foul again, seems fitting to put away the 4 or 5 sunny, upbeat albums I own. I just found these guys (SubRosa) via a YouTube sidebar recommendation and I'm very impressed:
Chunky, vaguely doomy riffs, maybe like a slowed-down Kylesa, with floaty, folky female vocals and kind-of Silver Mt Zionesque electric violin/viola/cello parts but steers clear of all the sillier images that description conjures up. Really great stuff. Having ordered that, I'm in the mood for some more recommendations in a similar vein, or anything really, new, old, whatever you're digging right now.
