straight up cool guitar music
it's what we all love at the end of the day ain't it? no gimmicks, no keyboards/synths/piano, no messin around in general -- just good alternative indie rock guitar music.
i'll start with a band called Skeleton Suite. theyre from manchester, quite new and only have a video on youtube and a song on bandcamp, although they're releasing their debut EP called '§' quite soon.

Gwen Stefani
Jaga Jazzist
Are you here to give the music scene a kick up the arse?
Because If you're not, I'm not going to bother.
take a listen... if that doesn't kick the whole guitar band scene with the likes of the vaccines being the only hope up the arse then fuckin nothing else will -- it's absolutely shit hot

AWWW YEH
They're no Sweet Gorrilla
They're no Peppermint Apes.
HI BEN
Fresh new band
Right bunch of lads, bringing the future of rock 'n roll by conforming almost exactly to a standard set in the 1970s, and writing songs about proper subjects like politics (as can be seen by our song titles that look like meaningless slogans like 'Time for Revolution', 'This Revolution is a Real Revolution', and 'This Time, It's Personal') and fighting fairweather fans like Tommy Garschwin, who only come to games when we're winning god i hate him so much he doesn't have a season ticket or anything.
We're, I mean they're, called Luminous Kong.
I stumbled across us on the Internet while despairing the lack of proper music
a man can't turn another man onto some good shit without the inevitable articulate elaborate piss take... if you can handle tunes not being in 5/8 time signature without a microKorg in sight; type up your next reply while listening. (by the way that's EXACTLY how they, i mean you, came across)
to be honest
I can't speak for everyone, but most of the criticisms here are more down to the fact that this thread very closely resembles the sort of JAG threads characterised by the same "proper music, just straight up rock 'n roll, lads, none of this ambition shit" attitude and tendency to insist no involvement with the band.
I did listen to the band, and they were alright enough - not my cup of tea, really - but OK. If you genuinely were just wanting to make a recommendation, then I do feel a bit guilty, but I stand by my mighty, mighty satire.
* more down to (the thread) than the band themselves
if i were more drunk i'd write a long list of things that are better than the english weather
Instead I'm going to find some cake fart porn and toss off into a sock
Absolutely - who needs piano, keyboards, synths,
thoughts, ideas, imagination?
Some of us value originality in music.
Manchester's had it's day.....
....along with Liverpool, London, Cardiff, Bristol, Glasgow etc etc....time for a new town to get that 'buzz' feeling, we can worry about the sounds later..........erm, by the way, your 'new' band sounds like conference level 'Enemy' who'd have thought it possible, well done!
what a strange thing to say
tough time from a tough crowd... here's me thinkin I'd get a medium to half decent response on here; I should've gone all out and bared my arse to the pitchfork crew afterall. and I'm not in the band for the record, just a close associate. although i am disappointed to be honest, I think it's fuckin mint, head and shoulders above most XFM rate middle of the road guitar wank that's out now. still whether you like it or not is irrelevant, you've all helped increase the stats, every play counts and unfortunately the stats are what matters in this post arctic monkeys age of every average joe being an ultra critic, a plethora of tasteless and miserable music promoters and most labels being ran by a set of shit-scared market analysts... so cheers
I think this is the single most embarrassing post
I've seen in like 6 years of posting here. Congrats
cool story bro
You sound like a whole bunch of fun.
Actually, fuck it, I'll bite.
Two days ago I played in a 100 electric guitar orchestra in Liverpool cathedral where I was proud to be part of the single most powerful and moving guitar music I have ever heard. I'm still on a high.
It puts Skeleton Suite's meat-and-potatoes 'you already know what the next note will be' plodding into the clearest perspective you can imagine. Or maybe you can't.
Concentrate on being good, not trying to pretend you are.
don't think I don't know what I'm getting myself in for posting on these kind of music forums, ive been the anonymous username flaming the vulnerable new bands myself in the past...
Come off it.
You've posted a link to a band that you say - and it may well be true - you're not in and asked people if they like it. People generally don't.
It's not victimisation or flaming new bands or anything else. That happens on some threads on this website but it isn't here. People just don't particularly like the band. Probably because they sound a photocopy of every other band on the planet.
fair enough, like I said I'm just part of the team and spreading the word about. i don't expect everyone to start championing the band and I was ready for the scathing criticism... it's obviously not a reinvention of the wheel, it is what I said it is. fresh new guitar music. the views have increased and we've had a few more downloads.
it's been a success as far as I'm concerned.
Good for you.
The bottom line is 90% of being in a band is failure after failure after failure. Nearly all bands are destined to disappear into oblivion after barely even registering on anyone's radar. Take your victories where you find them.
You are overanalysing this Karatesuit
Band are fucking shit = mild pisstaking
Band are fucking shit + being a misinformed, smug, underhand tickle-toss = this thread.
You can always spot JAG's done by people who have no love for music
because the language used borders on football terrace style lingo / phraseology that no one into music like they describe might willingly use:
"at the end of the day"
"no gimmicks"
"just good alternative indie rock guitar music" (note:"just")
"kick the whole guitar band scene"
"it's absolutely shit hot"
"I'm just part of the team"
"a reinvention of the wheel"
"straight up cool guitar music"
" just a close associate"
.... your one of those f--ers who is responsible for the inanity of mainstream 22-35 year old culture aren't you. Bet you loved Men Behaving Badly, right? Never Mind the Buzzcocks? FHM?
With a bit of luck you'll get taken to Guantanamo and force-fed Napalm Death
I most like the way people use the phrase "reinventing the wheel" without having a fucking clue what it means (see 3 posts up for an example)
It's kinda like Americans using the phrase "I could care less". Y'know, like when they mean exactly the opposite.
no, i'm not.
are you seriously suggesting people who are into interpol, ride, my bloody valentine, tame impala, queens of the stone age etc are all stuck up music snobs, who type in nothing but perfect grammatically immaculate english with a lexical inventory wider than their own mam's snatch*
*how's that for a laddish football style terrace chant slur you posh cunt ;)
I have as much poshness in me as you think you have in you
My insinuation is less about class level, more about the lexicon of someone who actually holds no real passion for music.
I can't talk about the music I love in such phrases. Don't you see how all of that denigrates and cheapens not only the band you advertise but whatever music you 'love'?
I do hope Skeleton Suite ask for their money back when they see this super professional marketing work.

the phrase
trolls trolling tolls
comes to mind
Fine you wanna know what I think
It sounds... ok
Nice effort
but this is dated to fuck. And unoriginal. And LAD.
Bob Mould's latest is very straight-up
loud guitar music. Really good though, otherwise...
KAYAS!
No synths etc
Fair enough. Where do you stand on string sections, you know, for the big sing-a-long ballads?
and children's choirs
but seriously
the new Jon Spencer Blues Explosion album is surprisingly good and fun
