and I care because you do
sacrilege I know
Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is his masterpiece.
Every album, most EP's, a ton of his work under different names (Polygon window, Mike and Rich etc). He truly deserves to be held in such high regard as everything he's made, from techno, ambient, breakcore, classical, glitch etc. is of such an incredibly high quality and diversity. It's rare to find someone who manages to cross so many genres, styles and conquer them all so well.
Excited beyond words.
Spearheaded a sound that has leaked into so many genres now.
Felt too long when I first got it, but has aged well.
but it's no Pinkerton
but i love the song milkman off it
the aphex twin song you can sing along to
In case you were being serious
oh yeah i was. didn't know that milkman wasn't originally on the album
SAW 85-92 is wonderful, but I can't understand how anyone can prefer it to RDJ Album or I Care Because You Do. Those two are just untouchable.
SAW 85-92 was the first Aphex I ever heard. I loved it instantly and have played it way more than any of the other records. I'll always have more affection for it than any of the others. It's also really easy to listen to and sounds good whatever your mood.
That said, RDJ is an amazing album and probably the most complete summation of his genius.
though I maintain that 'Xtal' is possibly my favourite thing he's ever done.
Drucqs cds together. They go perfectly in-sync. I did it once and burned an mp3 of it.
I'm tempted to believe you! Upload a portion somewhere for us.
It's a bit off-kilter to begin with, but after about 10 minutes it settles down.
85 plays in 24 hours, so someone's listening to it!!
Once youve heard it a couple of times, you dont want to listen to the album any other way.
Its almost like he has tried to meld every single style of music the hes ever done, unto one continuous track.
You're right, it sounds alright around 10mins 30 ish, but before that it sounds like i thought it would - like 2 different songs being played at the same time ;-)
now it sounds a bit dated. It just needs a few more years then it will sound retro, warm and nice.
It is not the greatest album of all time.
