Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group
Thinking of getting tickets for the gig on the 26th in Brighton. I've got a few weeks to decide whether I want to go. Don't know whether it's gonna be a chance to see Omar stop sulking and apply himself or a chance to see him immerse himself even further into his own arsehole. Being a massive fan of ATDI and Mars I really hope it's not a let down. Anyone vouch for these shows? Being in Brighton the supports sure to be a corker though...

Mummy Says I'm Special
Gwen Stefani
should be really good
it's a new band with teri from le butcherettes on vocals. quite fun/poppy by the sound of it

That does look pretty sick
didn't realise they we're touring with a singer, sounds good. She looks like a bit of a live wire too.
Upon further consideration
she's pretty smoking too
yeah le butcherettes are a lot of fun
nothing amazing but they put on a really good live show. they supported on the last TMV tour. it's all new material so omar's bound to be into it and deantoni is amazing. i'm stoked.
Yeah, you can't beat a good ryhthm section (pun intended)
You guys heading to the Brighton show or elsewhere?
i'm seeing the show at the garage
I got tickets for this
I'm partly excited but also have a feeling I might not enjoy it, purely because I'm not much into anything Omar has done recently. Buit a good rhythm section live + The Haunt has incredible sound... I have seriously never been to a gig there that has had less then stellar sound (even during a festival where they had bands on all day, every single one sounded absolutely massive)
been really into a lot of his recent solo albums
which haven't you liked? i think it's some of his best stuff. un escorpion, solar gambling, cizana, xenophanes, ciencia, etc. were all great.
Xenophanes is superb, in particular.
who's on drums?
deantoni parks
lol, sorry didn't see your answer before i googled it
so my reply looks rude
heh np
i was pretty quick on the ball

That was actually really good
I didn't think he was capable of that level of restraint.
this lineup (almost) has a record out btw
Octopus Kool Aid

bit more electro than the live stuff but still cool.
That sounds cool, there's a couple of official looking videos
for the group now. Got my tickets for the Brighton show this Wednesday, stoked.

I'm really excited
I was going because my friend wanted to go but I love the sound of this stuff, nothing like I expected! Looks fucking epic live as well
Same
Only a day to wait, sgon be awesome!
Loads of his solo stuff are on Spotify now
I really enjoyed this show!
I was incredibly relieved to see Omar enjoying himself on stage again, he was going nuts with his guitar, also gender bender is a pretty great front woman. Also the Haunt once again doesn't disappoint on the sound front, I wish all venues could sound like this place.
But the support act really didn't grab me
I was surprised about this because OIB usually do really well on this front but they were so incredibly generic & defiantly didn't fit the bill at all.
isn't it MONO/POLY?
i think he/they're doing the whole tour
It was some indie band that sounded a lot like placebo
bummer
it's this guy in london/much of the tour

That is really unfair! ha
show was killer
can i JAG an interview with him I did years ago but only recently typed up?
yes
thank you!

it has a few odd points in it: namely that he was very cynical about ATDI at the time, and hated on Deloused a fair bit too...
this interview is with cedric
you tricked me
oh shit you're right
i mean it mentions Omar.
It's too early. Still, it might be of mild interest.
Anyone else think this was...
a bit rubbish?
I mean, Omar was amazing, and great to see him loving playing guitar so much after his ATDi performances, but the rest of the band and a lot of the music was pretty uninspiring and plain imo. Should have been instrumental.
That was horrendously shit last night
It sounded like Evanesence. Two of my friends left early because they couldn't stand it.
Also did anyone else think that the support act was just like FlyLo? From the dance moves, to the smile, to the set up & the music he played. Tiny FlyLo
black guy djing = flylo
girl singing = evanescence
good job, pal
Jumping to conclusions a bit there pal
also the fact
that the girl sounded like the singer from evanescence to a backing band of melodramatic pop rock music
and the fact that yes, the dj was black. also the fact that he dances exactly the same way as fly lo, has exactly the same smile, uses just an apple mac with external hardwire, and was generally playing brainfeeder/low end theory/ la instrumental hip hop that fly lo generally makes and plays
so please don't rub your white guilt, over liberal nonsense on me while implying i'm both a sexist and a racist bigot just because a girl reminded me of another girl and a black guy reminded me of another black guy
You don't sound like a very happy penguin :(
Vous ne semblez pas comme un très heureux penguin :(
