Cat Power
what's the chance she'll be added to
The National ATP?
i
rather doubt they would add an expensive artist to an already sold out festival...
I *think*
the line-up was all finalised before the tickets went on sale. That's what one person told me anyway. I'm still holding out for St Vincent/David Byrne and Sufjan in some form. That might be futile holding out, but still.
I'm hoping for Sufjan too.
Cat Power is touring Europe around then and has the whole ATP weekend free, I wanna get tickets but would rather see her at ATP if she's playing!
It's already fairly ridiculous
how much more expensive The National line up must've been in comparison to the Shellac one. Guess it was meant to be at a bigger venue, though.
given
ATP's precarious financial position, i would probably stick to the london date if you have to see her. It'd be less than 5% chance of her doing the ATP: her fee would be profit ATP are missing out on. Not like they need to sell any more chalets
She isn't playing the festival
ATP very kindly replied to an email I sent just 10 minutes ago.
Gah, why do people keep playing the Roundhouse?
I've seen a bunch of stuff there (including Cat Power a few years back), and it's always seemed perfectly designed to remove all atmosphere and make the sound as poor as possible.

Some here though http://www.roundhouse.org.uk/book-tickets?perfno=9504
Is it best to buy tickets for main space standing, or circle standing?
Main space is best. I've booked a ticket for this just now. I know I'll
regret it. I've seen her around 8-10 times since the late 90s. She's been appalling live everytime. The best time I saw her was at The Garage in August 2001 and that's because Lift To Experience were the support. I'm a fan of her on record but a sucker to buy a ticket when she plays live.
Really?
That's put a dampner on things. I've never seen her and was really looking forward to it. Damn.
Baring in mind this is one person's opinion..
You've seen her around about 10 times and she's been appalling every time?
Did you not think, after maybe a couple of times, or maybe even five or six times, that it wasn't worth buying a ticket? In fact, why have you just booked a ticket to the Roundhouse show?!
s
Sorry. I'm typing this on my phone on the way home on the tube.
Cat Power is almost a unique artist for me. I love her albums but have always not enjoyed her live. I certainly don't go to the gig wanting to dislike her set but always tend to. I almost always buy a ticket as perhaps I want her to prove me wrong. The opposite would be The Trail Of Dead. I've seen them more times than I can think of since the late 90s and have hated them on album but loved their gigs.
Yeah, I know, but still. I will form my own of this gig, obviously.
I was the one that replied that I've always thought that she's poor live.
Most others at the gigs of hers that I've been to seem to enjoy themselves and the reviews are usually good too. I'm sure you'll have a great time as I'm in the minority. I remember seeing her at probably the second or third stage at Reading 2001. Her voice was barely a whisper and accompanying instruments were so sparse that the sound from the main stage drowned her out fot a lot of her set. I then saw her on August Bank Holiday at The Garage when I got back to London (that I mentioned in my first reply). Anyway, for what it's worth I'm probably too harsh a critic. I'd go by others' views.
Didn't see her that early
But others have said she was notoriously awful early on. Shy, something like that... When I saw her in ... erm, bout 2 years ago, she was exuberant and graceful and wonderful. :)
Yeah she's exorcised her demons somewhat
Though I once saw her at Union Chapel and in her drunk days and even though she was a mess between songs, when she played it was stunning.
These posts make me feel better. Looking forward to it.
Does anyone have a spare ticket for this gig?
Seems to be soldout everywhere. If so please send me a Note. Thanks.
Try The Roundhouse site every few days. I know that it's sold out
on there now but they very often, almost always, release a few tickets now and again.
Has anyone got refunds from WeGotTickets?
Bought mine direct from Roundhouse.
Refunded within a few days.

Yeah. I got an email from The Roundhouse too. Get your tickets
quickly if you're interested in going. I got mine about two minutes ago. I was in a queue as there was a lot of internet traffic on The Roundhouse website. Hopefully she turns up this time around. I think she's playing a festival and so it'll be in her financial interest to play the gig.
Yeah she's doing Glastonbury that week
