why is Thom Yorke lambasted for listening to 'edgy' music?
why are people still content with listening to shit music?
Just last week. It's really sad that the vast majority of people still just let themselves get fed music rather than finding the good shit. It couldn't be easier in the internet age.
There were moments when Green Day was relevant to you... HALCYON DAYS THAT THEY WERE.
Is everything more obscure now there’s so much more, as a total, and it’s so much easier to access? Is it too much more the lay punter to commit themselves to seeking out ‘truly’ obscure shit, in a ‘wood for the trees’ sence? Where do you draw the line? Does the line even exist outside of these digital borders? Is it just something you’re inventing to justify your own subcultural value?
I would punt that TY is, financially at least, beyond lambasting. Radiohead (and it’s spin-offs) seem to have invented a critical shield to defend their increasingly ‘off the beaten path’ output. I would follow that up with saying that TY et al have been quoted in interview throughout their career as listening to ‘out there’ music, without much in the way of retort.
