Obv both great, but if you had to pick one...
essential text please?
Bizarre Ride II one of the truly great hip hop albums.
HOW FAT IS SHE?
If that 2nd Pharcyde album was any good it would be a closer contest. Sadly, it isn't.
Love, Love, Love Bizzare Ride tho..
labcabincalifornia is excellent, catch me on the right day and I may even say it's as good as Bizarre Ride.
Drop, Groupie Therapy, Runnin!. SHE SAID! and some early Dilla beats for good measure.
smooved out R&B does nothing for me
if you think that labcab sounds anything like smoothed out r&b, then you have absolutely know idea what smoothed out r&b sounds like. What the hell are you listening to?!
She Said is maybe the only song w r&b leanings, but its not any more r&b than say... Passing Me By.
nowhere near as mad as their first record.
I think its time for a critical re-evaluation buddy. Listen to it again.
its almost as if they went as far out of their way as possible to create the anti-Bizzare Ride. slow, smooth and serious as opposed to quick, raw, and ballistic.
kudos to them, i suppose...doesn't mean i have to like it.
just saying you should try it again.
Better singles and more fun overall. Not to take anything away from DP though.
Both had great production to work with, I think Blowout Comb is the best produced album between the two groups though.
Digable released two great albums (Blowout Comb is way underrated) but the Pharcyde released two classics.
Pharcyde are also absolutely amazing live
But it's a classic. Doowutchyalike never goes out of style.
Where next fam?
If you liked Sex Packets (and who doesn't) this is more of the same.
I think the general consensus is that they dropped off pretty sharply after this but I still really like Sons of the P. If you like their modern take on the P-Funk production sound then you'll dig it. After this my knowledge is pretty sketchy, so looking forward to being schooled...
but you should get sons of the p next for sure.
I'll check them both out, will try Sons of the P first.
i'd say they are both equally brilliant. a dead heat.
bottom line and as per, you pretty much summed it up for me. Pharcyde have some better singles, but I really dig the spaced out, twisted feel of DP. so.....yeah
Man, Butterfly Mecca was so cuet. Just re-watching that 9th wonder video, she's kinda irresistible in that.
You want em I got em, drippin like water.
we should do some Outloud soon, bruh. halcyon days!
Outloud is DOWN, went down a few months back and its not coming back! We do the plug.dj thing once in a while tho.
Quinton's on his way!
love The Pharcyde. so them. Runnin, oh my god. precious few tunes can touch it for summer goodness.
unrelated digression: I'm thinking of checking out some of DJ Quik's earlier stuff....
Keep me updated.
