Listening to it now and opening song "Zelda" is quite beautiful!
still haven't got a definitive answer as to whether it's a tribute to Drowned in Sound
sum of £1.99 this Sunday
Superb. In fact, possibly their best yet.
Yup. This is their best work to date. VERY exciting!
Spent a weekend walking around in the mountains and woods, listening to this. It's like what Wild Beasts were trying to do with Smother, and didn't quite nail, in my opinion. It's gorgeous.
I like Wild Beasts, and I loved the idea of what they were trying with Smother, but they just didn't hit the target for me.
do you mean how they minimalised their sound a bit? Because to me that was just a pretty natural progression, rather than some sort of radical new direction, which you seem to be implying.
Anyway, two listens in I don't see the comparison myself.
And Wild Beasts this year (Smother, then Two Dancers).
Wild Beasts: entrancing
Don't get the Antlers fuss at all.
think this is their best work so far
round and round and round and round and round? I have been for about 2 hours now, and I still don't feel like coming up for air.
and it still sound as gorgeous as it did the first time I listened to it. I am loving this.
it's weirdly hypnotic
The final track just runs perfectly back into the opener. Probably helps that this weird FB player is automatically set on repeat all, too.
Hoping when the record turns up I can get my head round it. I hate the whole listening on facebook thing.
Makes you just want to get the EP out of the way and get off FB chat.
Just put up a video of Dom Gourlay chatting with Darby about Undersea and more on DiS' YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5UJHv66CFw
I'm happy they moved away from the emotional turmoil of the first and most of the second album, it was good but I wouldn't to hear the same thing again
who come in when a band goes a little weirder and gets upset, but I think while this is their sort of pretty stuff turned up to 11, it's not that I don't like it but like teh second side of Burst Apart the music all delicate and whispy also doesn't quite last...
First half of Burst Apart I really love and think was a big improvement on Hospice. Second half and this I find is great when in the mood but generally, not 'songy' enough.
And I think it is utterly exceptional. I didn't really 'get' Burst Apart but this is just sublime, Crest and Zelda remind me of Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden, what with their dream like textures and horn sections. His voice on Crest is just fantastic as well. Fucking love it.
The whole facebook thing coupled with a dodgy laptop and no access to the stream via iOS wound me up.
Now I'm actually listening to the music in a format I can enjoy, I can see the beauty in it. Zelda is up there with Kettering, Two and Putting the Dog To Sleep, while the whole Ep just flows so well.
Also I spoke to someone at Transgressive, the £16.49 vinyl is going to be a thing of beauty and entirely different to the standard black 12" on sale in normal record stores. They shipped Monday so should be with us soon.
I reviewed it for The Quietus.
it just doesn't feel the tiresome need to go somewhere.
Loving the tabla licks
The bass line sounds like it was written by Tricky in the first place.
Still love this EP btw, haven't gotten this much life out of four tracks since god knows when.
