I know this shouldn't upset me, but it does.
Clearly knows nowt about hip hop, but I've always found ITANOM one of rap's most overrated records.
Don't get me wrong, it's one of the few pre-90s albums that still stands up at all, the production was revolutionary and massively influential, and Chuck D is one of the only dudes who's flow hasn't aged horribly... and blah blah blah everything that's be said a million times.
But best hip hop album of all time? Top 10? Not even close.
Maybe if this kid ever gets into hip hop, rather than Drake :s, he'll appreciate the record for what it is.
it's still great. I'd be interested to know how this kid feels about The Infamous.
At no point in the article does the kid state he's into any actual hip hop. I mean, I like Drake, 808s & Heartbreak, Clams Casino and Rustie... but there's nothing in there to suggest he'd be into PE in the first place.
It is a great record, but not necessarily to someone with no interest in the music.
Or is Black Friday-ing the New Pyramid Scheme?
It's quite a well-written article though. That guy has a future.
'I simply cannot get past the bizarre, jolting juxtaposition of bludgeoning, Metallica-style guitar riffs'. That's a Slayer sample, from Angel of Death.
