Stuff like that please.
sounds an awful lot like nervous energy by unwound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0Vfv4CsOM8
I CAN'T WORK IN THIS CONDITIONS
Mainly just the main riff. Still, not listened to this for ages, so cheers.
never listened to these guys but their name comes up all the time.
unless I think of any more.
More the vocals than anything in this one.
Caterwaul's a stupid song anyway
Why is it a stupid song?
don't get me wrong, I kinda like it for its cheesiness, but it's pretty shocking by Trail of Dead's standards.
Quite fun live though
like its a power-pop song at best. Which as I say isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's not exactly Richter Scale Madness is it
not bands. Im looking for songs like those with that specific sound/energy, or stuff thats close.
There are a bunch of rock songs on there that sound like that.
After buying tickets to see Trail Of Dead yesterday I listened to Source Tags and Codes and thought "I don't know many other bands like them...I could DiS".
You've almost done it for me.
This is a song from World's Apart, which is the worst Trail of Dead album around.
Now Source Tags & Codes is different. The bands listed here aren't particularly like 'golden era' Trail of Dead.
For that you want to sort of play 80s Sonic Youth and Early Fugazi.
Will You Smile Again For Me
The Rest Will Follow
Now, So Divided...
Madonna's their best by far. Outstanding record. Source Tags and Codes isn't far behind but a little less focused.
otherwise I'm with you.
World's Apart is nothing like as bad as people make out and Caterwaul is the best tune on it - it kills live too. Bit more self consciously anthemic (is that a word?) than some of the stuff off their previous records but don't think that necessarily makes it cheesy.
For things like it would say Floor's 'Tales of Lolita' or Torche's Guided By Voices covers (from their split with Part Chimp). Actually, these aren't that much like it, but I really like 'em
but then it becomes a rock ode for bowie and the beatles and such, and Conrad starts taking on a wierd Liam Gallagher-esque twang.
TOD were much better when they were channelling the beatles through punk rock.
