Where are all the good indie nights gone?
Is this article from Vice a real picture of an indie night in London now?
I used to go to Cheapskates all the time - it's a student club not an indie one. Though I did once hear Dreaming of You by The Coral there once circa 2003. That was pretty indie
Everything either closed down or in our case decided people sitting in a posh dining room made more money than having people off their faces on sambucca hanging off the disco ball to The Rat
But I'm of to one in Woking tonight
I spent my youth in Woking, and there were definitely no indie clubs! Few years ago now mind you. Where is it?
i live on the south coast and am travelling up to a house warming. going to a night called schism apparently.
getting on for 10 years since I first went. I bet they are playing the same songs now. Rock nights are probably playing the same stuff since I went as a cheeky 16 year old in the warm glow of Nu-Metal.
Never been so happy as I was at some bar in Fallowfields when all they seemed to play was System of A down.
That the room I was in at Stealth in Nottingham was playing the same music as it had been playing when I first turned 18 in 2007. Only back then it was all new/a year or two old.
I started to feel dizy and a bit sick. then I bought a bucket of KFC.
too many probably
that Cheapskates isn't really cheap
it was 60p a drink
at The Underworld has been running for nearly 20 years now...
That gives me a warm glow inside. Great night out.
When I was at Sheffield Uni (04-07) it was all about Shag! At Leadmill with £1 doubles - oh and 'Fuzz Club' - where I saw just about every indie band going for £3 a pop. good times
