And you guys can suck it up or risk your complaints being censored.
Have fun. :)
leave excellent indie untouched
nobody reads the music board.
Let's just say that raindrenchedweekend's profile IP matches another user's profile. It could be entirely innocent.
So it WAS joeymahone all along...
but minor investigatons suggest that 'Catherine' is actually a Glaswegian bloke called Sam Potter
now the other ID is appearing for me... lordy! It is definitely not 100% reliable with these things, though...
Music websites ironically buying into the gender binary because they are intensely fucking stupid.
But I was talking more about them assuming that all the caustic and pointlessly aggressive trolls on the internet must be male.
If it turns out that raindrenchy is actually a man then - :(
but he did challenge my conception of gender. First I learnt that not all internet dicks are male. Then I learnt that, in fact, they probably are (even if they state explicitly that they aren't).
I've been on a whole journey!
how is it not?
well, i mean you could read it in that way, but it would be a CG-like stretch.
and I didn't speak out 'cos I wasn't (very often) an obnoxious twat on the music board.
Then they came for the... Oh, hang on. I'm cool with this.
I am just in from work?
Whatever it is link me.
fuck the haters buddy
Time to stop using it.
I paraphased a Simpsons quote in that thread. If paraphrased Simpsons quotes aren't safe on DiS, what the fuck is?
not gonna read it; I almost read raindrenched's essay thread before the potential not-a-girl-after-allness of that user was suggested.
Just with the reaction to his letter elsewhere on the web (sadly very predictable) I thought it might seep into DiS too...there are a few comments but they're probably just trolling.
has anyone said that yet?
i just have, anyway. suck it up.
BUT for that to be zeroed in upon, as if to say this site in particular is full of it as opposed to, say, MOST OF THE INTERNET, was pretty reprehensible.
I'm quite old fashioned. I hate even basic bad manners and despite being a big web user, I've never been able to get my head round people acting in a way online that they wouldn't in public. Of course people can act like arseholes in public but that tends to be more likely to lead to ostracism than it does online. And funnily enough whenever I take people to task over being, well, not very nice, I get more crap then if I was to say "Radiohead are shit". So I rarely bother anymore unless what I see constitutes bullying, as opposed to pointless rage from people with evident anger issues.
And I put the above paragraph in to assist with my point. I am in no way condoning how one person behaved in that thread, but to highlight DiS in particular seems poor form. This is actually one of the more reasonable messageboards - there's a lot I wouldn't bother going near, but I like this one. It's funny, it's insightful, it can be piss-taking (but good natured) and it can also be genuinely helpful, as personally witnessed by my recent thread where I asked about venue hire in Bristol. But any dickhead can set up an "anonymous" account on any messageboard on the web and spew bollocks, and regrettably this one's no exception.
sleeping with people on their period, about the Good Ship, about Trance, countless threads about Radiohead, threads that were blatantly misogynistic, and THIS is what tips you over the edge Theo? Really?
I'm calling you out Theo. I'm calling you out.
managed to crowbar fucking Radiohead into that that thread.
