Albums DiS (and various other sites) haven't covered so far in 2012...
I'm doing a little half-year mop up next week, with a dozen records worthy of people's attention that didn't - for whatever reason - get reviewed. Just checking if there's anything you lot would like to read our opinions on (or even try reviewing it as a sample review for DiS), especially if it's one of your favourites of the year that you feel needs a bit of a leg up...
I'm just doing a review of the Bear in Heaven album. I adore it, but forgot to review it.
Getting some grief on Twitter about us not covering Smashing Pumpkins, but the moaning is putting me off including that...

do a review of the Hundred Waters record
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhtE2FqOVk8
Merchandise- Children of Desire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdIlsTpf5wM
It's a gem
you are zane lowe, no?
isitanygoodisit?
all those videos were mega annoying. and seemed to lack any actual songs.
there are some good tracks on there - kill, sever, drops
I think it sits somewhere between say polica and the knife - fairly dark and ethereal.
Gravenhurst- Ghost in daylight.
It's a lovely album...
you didnt review yppah did you?
or did you?
Breton - Other People's Problems
I know I'm going to get slated for this as it got a mauling on Pitchfork, but I truly think this is a very misunderstood piece of electro pop. Great songs, with a fair bit of pop nous.
.. maybe an acquired taste, but still would be interesting to see DIS opinion on that one.
Hmm, maybe not actually. I'll just go and listen to it in my corner. :P
YPPAH
doesn't look like it did and i've been listening to that a fair bit, and had assumed it had been covered...will see if words come.
well thesilentballet is no more so just nick mine
job done.
glad you've enjoyed it
Quakers
a brilliant album of hip hop produced by Geoff Barrow with about a million guest MCs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNb7DwiklZg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5R4T0yW5_4
It's musically fantastic, lyrically inventive.
Clockwork Angels by Rush
If you can interview Macca you can blummin' well spare 250 words for Canada's gift to rock. (Don't mention the compression)
Still no Trouble Books review from DiS
that one IS being covered in the mop up :)
cool - its a great record
thats very nice news, thank you.
just emailed you sean with something that might interest you!
I may have made a mistake and confused Trouble Books with someone else...
geographer - myth
a whisper in the noise - to forget
orcas - orcas
trust - trst
power animal - exorcism
I thought Trust had been covered?
.. really like that album too.
looks like we missed it. think there was some confusion about UK release dates and PR only doing print press...I know I got it a few days before seeing them at Great Escape, couple of corkers on there, and they were a bit good live :)
don't think so, but it's been a long day, i could be looking in all the wrong places
It's great, it's been a regular dark synth beat on my morning walks to work this year
My bad
I must have read something somewhere else then.
hrm
I have a bad feeling I was meant to review the A Whisper In the Noise album. Would make for a perfect review for someone wanting to apply as there's so much LOW-like heft to the record...
perfect blend of things in there for a dis'er to love
an olafur arnalds/arcade fire/silver mount zion hybrid maybe - five or more stand out tracks but no real filler.
and yup a lotta low.
the pirate ship quintet - rope for no-hopers
yeah, just my firstname @ thenameofthiswebsite dotcom and cc andrzej@ our reviews editor too.
I would really like to review the self-titled album from Mirel Wagner, Marissa Nadler's "The Sister" or Fiona Apple's "The Idler Wheel" - if not yet covered!
Olympic Swimmers
No Flag Will Fly, deserves a wee review as it's great and very dis.
Brilliant Album
Saw them in Glasgow on Sunday as part of the west end festival closing party and they stole the show among some impressive company on the bill. Much heavier sound live than on record and her voice is fantastic!
Admiral Fallow - Tree Bursts in Snow
Am I right in thinking there hasn't been a review of this on here? Definitely deserves one, great record!
King Charles - Loveblood
Advance Base?
It confuses me what Owen is doing there, why CFTPA is dead and we have this instead. I mean it's great an' all....but....
Have you covered this? I can't seem to find it here
this is good
trophies by apollo brown & oc
now, now - threads
Black swan - aeterna
Now, Now is appearing in a lot of people's favourite lists for this year...
or: Lower Dens - Nootropics
already reviw
er... already reviewed
http://drownedinsound.com/releases/16975/reviews/4144858
sorry, my bad.
Young Prisms - In Between
Lemonade - Neptune
covered on Pitchfork but not here I don't think. Totally different from their first album, very polished almost 80s feel to it but i've been really enjoying in the past few weeks.
*Diver, sorry
Neptune was one of the singles off it
Zammuto
Couldn't find a review or much of a mention for Ex-Books Nick Zammuto's unbelievably brilliant debut album. Please rectify!
A couple of cracking solo albums
from Tom & Adam (Weikie) from Her Name Is Calla. Know DiS has been a big supporter of HNIC and Sean featured Weikie's Union Chapel video recently.
Both well worth checking out:
http://olynkarecords.bandcamp.com/album/we-were-animals
http://music.weikie.com/album/raise-our-sunken-ship
Saint Etienne - Words And Music by...
yeah, one of our writer's put their hand up to do this in the mop up
be interesting to see if..
the review is more like Fact's hatchet job or Pitchfork and TMTs thumbs up.
Nope - Revision
I bought this after reading a review by Norman Records on Twitter that mentioned Cave and the Smashing Pumpkins. One of That Fucking Tank is in them. Justsaynope.co.uk
sweet billy pilgrim - crown and treaty
A more polished album than their previous Mercury nominated album but still containing the interesting arangements and styles. It's definitely one of the albums released this yeat that I keep coming back to.
there are quite a few big albums we've not covered from the album chart
Bieber
Cheryl Cole
One Direction
Paloma Faith
Emilie Sande
Rihanna Talk That Talk
Ben Howard - every kingdom
not that we necessarily NEED reviews of those, but if people are looking for things to submit sample reviews of...
That Ben Howard album's dead good
That's my review. I know the drummer as well which so it's rare in that I never like music done by any of my mates but have to pretend I do cos it should be up "my street".
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band
was there an album? thought it was a b-sides collection?
It's the gentlemans pact ep - which is really good
and a bunch of unreleased songs - mainly ones that the other members wrote - that's right ones that didn't make the cut for Outer South...
(Although Breezy is worth the price of admision alone as it's one of the best things Conor's ever written)
Holy shit!
Thanks
Silver Jews
Julie Stone
Julia, not Julie.
Melvins?
The Chap - We Are Nobody
The Pre New - Music For People Who Hate Themselves
Covered by The Quietus here:
http://thequietus.com/articles/08405-listen-pre-new-album-music-for-people-who-hate-themselves
Swans - We Rose From Your Bed With The Sun In Our Head
Live album essentially I know but lots of new songs / demos etc on there too.
White Car - Everyday Grace
Fantastic album, though its had some mediocre reviews for some reason.
Couple of old electronic legends have released live albums this year:
Chemical Brothers - Don't Speak
Leftfield - Tourism
The former is supposed to be pretty good live album(I believe it includes an even better DVD).
Poter Ricks - Biokinetics (reissue)
Would be interesting to see what DiS make of this minimal dub techno classic originally released on Chain Reaction.
Thomas Köner (member of Porter Ricks) has also just released an album 'Novaya Zemlya'. Loved Permafrost by him but only review I've seen so far of his latest is in description by Bookmat.
http://boomkat.com/cds/539653-thomas-koner-novaya-zemlya
argh, Chemical Brothers album is Don't Think not Don't Speak!
Please stop explaining
and it's Porter Ricks not Poter
really need to proof read my posts first
I was very surprised the Sweet Lights album wasn't reviewed..I thought it would have been picked up due the amouth of folk on DiS who enjoy Kurt Vile.
Still the best album I've picked up this year, Classic melodies with some nice unusual arrangements (you can hear the connection with Kurt Vile/War on Drugs).
I reckon it will be one of these albums that just seem to pass without begin noticed, unfortunately.
mewithoutYou - Ten Stories
Really fantasic.
I've had this on repeat all week.
It's as good as Brother/Sister imo.
Big KRIT - Live from the Underground
Not sure if 4evaNaDay got reviewed either
I'd second Orcas and Zammuto
both fine records.
I'd also add Barry Andrewsin Disko's Kuka Siella. Discovered him through the Nordic Sounds feature a few months ago and been really enjoying the album
Loch Lomond - White Dresses EP

ohh... Albums

NZCA/LINES?
There was a new Beak> album out this year
Was it any good...?
I see this is no longer an issue

Sons Of Noel And Adrian - Knots
Gemma Hayes- Let It Break
Soko - I Thought Was An Alien
Sleep Party People - We Were Drifting On A Sad Song
Princeton - Remembrance Of Things To Come
Admiral Fallow - Tree Bursts In Snow
Den Svenska Bjornstammen - Ett Fel Narmar Ratt
Ramona Falls - Prophet
All are pretty swell!
I second Soko and Ramona Falls
Ikons - Life Rhythm
I seem to remember liking it but I'm not entirely sure
Prinzhorn Dance School- 'Clay Class'
It's been done buddy.

Team Me
To The Treetops! is an album worth reviewing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liYLOcUUUoc
Foreign Fields
Album of the Year-ish (so far)
Absolutely excellent album.
Gutted I still haven't seen them live.
would love someone to send in a review of Motion Sickness of Time Travel
http://motionsicknessoftimetravel.bandcamp.com/album/motion-sickness-of-time-travel
Hot Water Music - Exister
alt-J (apologies if it has actually been reviewed)
I've had a go myself if anyone fancies giving me any feedback
http://lucasmorton.wordpress.com/2012/06/29/alt-j-inter/
Lucas
The Heartbreaks- Funtimes
Not really my thing, but a very fun album. I expected Dom Gourlay to be all over it, seems like his kind of thing and he has interviewed him for this site in the past.
Opposite Sex - s/t
Twisted guitar pop. Marc Riley was spanking all over it earlier in the year. Is that a recommendation?
exlovers - Moth
came out a couple of weeks ago, seems like total DIS fare.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BMGfLVxY9s
Shifted - Crossed Paths
