Anyone aware of stage times? I'm primarily going for chromatics, don't want to miss them, pretty pumped
Saw Chromatics last night too, they were amazing.
best gig I've seen in years (at least up there with recent Hecker/Antlers/St. Vincent/Nicolas Jaar shows). truly outstanding. trying to work out if I can dip out of Polica to catch them again, and get back in time for Polica.
No idea on stage times, mind
Wish I'd gone last night really as I'm not fussed about Neon Indian
didn't realise they had a gig last night, arse
Philco fiction 7:45
Neon Indian 9:45
I don't mind admitting I'm only a recent convert to Johnny Jewel's incredible body of work, but this was still one of my most anticipated gigs for a while, and it shattered my expectations. The Kill for Love 'singles' were predictably great, but the highlights were versions of 'I Want Your Love' and 'These Streets Will Never Look the Same' which sounded so much more powerful than on record. Now, can Glass Candy please come and play some UK gigs?
Their set at ATP in 2008 is still one of my faves.
was immense! Listened to it about 6 times on the way home...
would have gone to this if I hadn't just seen both at Primavera
anything you'd like me to ask if my wish comes true?
...are they definitely playing tonight (see my post at the bottom of this thread)?
because Kill For Love is my album of the year by some distance.
Also - what next in terms of IDIB releases? He's been prolific of late and although he's said that the tunes on TFAIF and KFL were written over a number of years, I also think I read that there were tunes he held back from KFL because he didn't want it to be full of pop songs (or something like that). My reading of that is that he could've filled the album with stuff like the first 6 tracks. That would have made it even better IMO, so (when) are those tracks going to see the light of day?
...also primarily for Chromatics. Feel a bit bad for Neon Indian - are they going to be faced with a massive exodus before they even get on stage?
but I've just listened to Neon Indian's most recent album and it's lovely.
It'd be a shame, they're great live!
Don't know Chromatics so looking forward. Going for Neon Indian. Most recent album's really good but Psychic Chasms is something else
both are great live
What's the views like if you're bringing your not especially tall wife along? Is there a balcony? A decent rake a-la Brixton? Or is it just best to get there well early?
I wanna hear how Neon Indian is live tomorrow please - missed his last LDN show (had another gig that night too) but didn't hear very positive reviews.
Dear TicketWeb customer,
This is a courtesy email regarding the Neon Indian event at Village Underground, London, tonight, 6 June 2012.
Please note the runtime for the event is as follows:
Philco Fiction: 20:30
Neon Indian: 21:45
Err...what has happened to Chromatics?
"Important information about Neon Indian & Chromatics tonight:
There won't be tickets on the door.
Doors open at 7PM. We do not know the stage times yet.
Chromatics are playing tonight!"
Also just gave VU a call and they confirmed that Chromatics are playing and that we should ignore the TicketWeb e-mail.
Panic over, hopefully...
7.45pm Philco Fiction
9.45pm Neon Indian
F*cking Ticketweb, I ask you...
their set and didn't see Neon Indian. How did Chromatics compare to last night. (I had a ticket for Madame Jojo's but gave it to someone from DiS due to a busy week.) Looks like they're getting to be a big band now. Their popularity will only get bigger when The BBC uses their music for montages during the Olympics perhaps. Which sized venue will they play sized next? Heaven? The Forum even?
...very good. Better than I was even hoping for.
They downright owned the place last night, and had an awesome encore, but at VU things felt a tad rushed. To be fair they did have to set up and then clear away a lot of equipment in record time.
Both shows were outstanding; definitely one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Just wish that I'd seen them headline on Tuesday, too.
Neon Indian were good and I think I really like them (Fallout, Polish Girl and Hex Girlfriend are brilliant) but they couldn't really match what had come before them.
Sorry Neon Indian!
Another brilliant gig, agree that Jo Jos just edged it for me (we got "Night Drive" then too which was awesome) but superb both nights. Really hope they don't wait 4 years to come back again.
better than i could have imagined, streets was pure joy, they have such a nice big clear sound
left after a few songs of neon indian, sounded a bit messy, not really up my strada...then i had a salmon and cream cheese bagel, bosh
