'Kids' by The Chapman Family
Doves - The Man Who Told Everything
Why change that drumbeat?!
^gets rid of the wanky horn section.
Pink Grease - Nasty Show
The Destroyers - Hole In The Universe
Sikth - Such A Fool
I don't actually really agree with my own suggestion, but feel its worthy of a mention. I have friends who make a fairly reasonable case that if the production on the album at large was as crisp and light as the single mix (well - sections of it appear to be taken from completely different sessions) then Maladroit could stand up to Blue.
Myself, I actually love the density of Maladroit, but I see their point, and will definitely concede that the coda of the single version is far more welcomely joyous than the album cut.
exactly the same problem as Nevermind suffers from
as it is, it's just OK. I hear good things about the new EP though.
If so then them.
And one had an intro on For You (the better version, on cassette) and the other went straight into the loud guitars (and seemed faster, on cd). I preferred the former. Did they reissue the album with the single version on or something?
totally ruined 'nine' and a few others for me at the time
The single version of Girls & Boys by Blur is better than the album. Shorter and a little less flabby, could just be me though
because once you've heard that piano solo, you don't want it any other way
I was kinda disappointed with the extra layers that appeared on the Tomboy album...
the single version is much better
and were so happy I played the non-album early edit they bought me a drink. nice chaps
The E.P. version was wonderful
Original EP version was devastatingly beautiful. Drums and Guns version was good, but the original just nails it for me...
The album version is actually kinda embarrasingly weak compared to the drastically different single version.
Also Keane's Spiralling. The album version adds completely unnecessary, jarring bits to the song, the single edit keeps it more straightforward to the song's advantage.
