Sorry for your loss.
and have very, very good singles. However, listened to the album and there's quite a bit of filler and too many fucking 'interludes'. Might grow on me though.
The singles are great but the album could be a bit patchy (only heard it once though.)
Puts me off them
Agree with the annoying voice comment.
Listened to the album yet but they have very good singles. One of the few new bands that are getting big that I actually rate.
Was bored shitless then left. Terrible guff.
Suzuki make an Alt-o. Fucking beauty, too. Check it out.
JAG uuh can't be bothedr to explain DiS meme
You are having to explain JAG on the board makes me quite sad.
I'm new. Can you explain, pretty please, so I don't look like a chump again?
since when has it had an entry on there? amazing
but quite like the album.
Most hipster band name EVER though.
Not nearly enough recognition that Alt-J have just put out a debut of the year (if not album of the year) contender.
Really, really fucking good music. Can't stop playing it.
maybe today, if I can find it.
I really like the EP. I can't believe people don't think his voice is wonderful. Two days ago, I woke up with that line (can't find the lyrics) from Fitzpleasure in my head. You know the one .. it goes wooooo at one point. Pressing all the right buttons!
If anyone want to give it a listen - http://www.spotimy.co.uk/albumpage.php?album=5465
And it's rather good
Strange, tried it this morning and could not find it. :(
People on this thread lead me to believe it would be a generic Everything Everything inspired angular guitar electronic love fest, what I actually got was something way more interesting. Not sure how much I like it at the moment but I deffo do like it.
...Everything Everything? really? their name might be, but i thought the debut LP made for some pretty inspired listening.
Enjoyed it. Not going to change the world, but it is lovely in some spots. Vocals sort of remind me of Doseone (minus the rapping).
Listening to them now. Seems rather inoffensive.
But... I can't forgive them for that name. Urrrgh.
but sadly not
No bad songs, very cohesive and a few standouts ('Breezeblocks' and 'Matilda'). A pleasure to listen to on a rainy afternoon like today! Reminds me a bit of Wild Beasts' Smother - a slow burner that rewards repeated listens. Looking forward to seeing them live soon at the Greenman festival.
i swear there's points where he's yawning out the lyrics
If not, why not? What I've heard so far from this has probably made the biggest impression on me this year with the exception of Polica. The lyrics to Breezeblocks are inspired. Shame that the poncey name might put people off. Oh, that and the voice. Which I love. So, like, whatever...

after the first listen. If you told me this was M&S's second record I wouldn't bat an eyelid and believe you.
Sometimes I love it.
Other times it sounds like Turin Breaks trying to be 'edgy'.
There are so many little moments on there that are just so special, and the whole thing coheres really well. Mind you, I played it to a friend the other night and he thought his voice was just ridiculous.
with no tunes
who you'd have to be extraordinarily uptight to think they didn't sound like.
Not least because Wild Beasts are brilliant and Alt-J are atrocious.
a lot. A lot a lot. I can play it regardless of who is in the room and not care if they think it's weird.
Checks for obligatory comparison to other British band they sound nothing like. Oh, first paragraph, great.
DiS in conspiratorial Pitchfork theory shocker
They have an annoying habit of bunching British bands together just because they're from the same country/ies. I should probably back this up with some good examples, but the best i can do is stuff like them comparing the Maccabees to the Arctic Monkeys, or The xx to Hot Chip.
I don't think Pitchfork's reviews are well-written full stop, but their reviews of British bands tend to be complete and utter bullshit.
I don't really say this an an Alt-J fan, by the way. Their album was pretty instant with me, but i've quickly bored of it. I'd still say it's one of the best of 2012, but then it's been a very, very poor year.
I was pretty taken with it too on first few listens - but it hasn't held my interest.
"Dissolve Me" is a great track though.
good singles, lots of filler, nothing wrong with a few of the tracks imo
