i'm interested in manchester in partic, but what do you use?
more often than not I find out about gigs through there that I've not seen advertised anywhere else.
although according to that everything i want to see is at the Brudenell in Leeds, which is about 2 minutes away from where i used to live and a LOOONG way from where i live now. Annoying
on the other hand, Sunn at the Ritz..
either for gigs in Oxford or Tunbridge Wells. Did you change your location on last.fm when you moved?
last.fm is pretty shit really. the distance it searches for you is massive and also for some reason i keep getting recommended gigs in New York?
liking bands on Facebook
and sign up to every mailing list you can - wegottickets, see, stargreen (?might be London only), musicglue, gigsandtours, ticketweb, ticketmaster, etc etc
usually go to an independent record shop once a week and pick up loads of flyers too. It's a pain over here though, the promo for acts is bloody awful.
Maybe this might help a few DiSers out there, particularly as I still find stuff like Last.fm and Songkick a bit of a faff.
Unfortunately, very London-centric and it's by no means a representation of all the gigs out there (unfortunately no Steps reunion concerts will make it on the list, sorry). I try to update it every week or so.
Apologies for the amateurish use of spreadsheets.
Thanks for that... muchos useful.
I just keep an eye on the Bristol Ticket Shop website, plus a couple of music news sites.
It scrapes all the ticket sites etc. Just type 'Manchester' into the search field.
Though it has let me down lately, didn't know about granddaddy or Julia holter gigs until they sold out
like the bat signal.
i thought your thing was not going to gigs
songkick is good
as part of my "find activities that don't involve the internet or getting tanked up" lifestyle change
cool. the bands are usually good but it's probably best to know they usually get ruined by the crowd + promoter
