10 years old this year. Classic unappreciated album.
what's it like?
Follow the Spotify link. And don't give up on it quickly because there's a lot of varied stuff.
so i'm going to stop what i'm doing to check out an album which i have no idea about apart from the fact it is unappreciated?
I'm sure you could spend a few minutes with it. I often try things out on there when I'm browsing t'web.
OK. It's electronics, vocoders, some noisy bits, some long repetitive experimental bits... erm, there was a reason I didn't go into music journalism.
Bits of it are brilliant. Not an easy listen.
No CV is even better. Now THERE'S a *completely* forgotten masterpiece.
I mean, listen to this for god's sake: (omg it has a video BY THE SONGWRITER now!!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAMkjlVUy4s
Whole album is pretty much at that level.
by a brilliant, unappreciated band. Who committed commercial suicide with their band name alone. It warms my crotchetty heart to see a thread on DiS about them. Hard to believe their debut is a decade old now. Majic Flat is still mindblowingly mad.
He put out a few download albums the other year which are worth tracking down: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2009/sep/01/my-computer?INTCMP=SRCH
Not sure about the albums after David Luke left, they really shouldn't be called My Computer.
I remember buying this on the basis of a glowing Mojo (or Select?) review.
Listened to it once and hated it. I thought it was dull.
Never took any notice of Mojo's (or Select's) reviews again.
Happy to give it another try though.
