Lets follow eachother on soundcloud.
I have two accounts. One for messing around really, electronics and everything. The other has tunes from around 2006 with the cover being the newest, not really a fan of them that much . folky stuff but might continue it again at some stage.

HIYO
http://soundcloud.com/joemadethis
most of my stuff is just me messing about with poor quality iPhone recordings in Audacity. I uploaded some old song ideas I had but never went anywhere.
Some nice sounds in there.
Stick with them, just need to be pieced together properly.
Yeah, I'm not too great with that
I tend to work better with loops and samples, or with other musicians. I've been itching to do some solo stuff but I just don't know where to start.
I love it when these threads pop up
http://soundcloud.com/keep-away-the-light
Mine keeps going through changes. The first track on there is my favorite, I like to think it sounds like Walls or something. I'm currently working on a live show but I've never performed, have no contacts and I'm not really a musician so I don't know how likely it is to happen.
I like the light static on the first track.
Not sure if it is intentional or not but, overall tunes sounding good. Second tune kind of sounds like a mouse on mars influence.
Thanks! Yeah it's intentional.
It's there because I started the track trying to write something that would sound like Chromatics but then it kind of came out a lot differently. I just decided to leave it in because later on in the song it seemed to make the synths sound distorted and stuff and when I took the static out it didn't sound the same haha.
I'm enjoying
The first track a lot. I like the combination of grittiness and etherealness...yeah, it's pretty gritty. Like a mouth full of bees.
Thanks!
Your stuff is really nice too actually. I feel like we share a lineup somewhere
The folk stuff is actually really nice!
Cheers, I am pretty embarrassed of it usually.
I was an awful knob when I was writing those tunes.
Mines just me playing around
haven't added to it in ages
http://soundcloud.com/urban-lighthouse
theres some really nice loops on this one I think
especially "Journey to Find the Ice King". I also like your track names. I struggle big time with track names.
Thanks!
Some of them are a bit throw-away but I've been meaning to spend more time with some tracks I have lying around. I have trouble making them go anywhere though
Here's a song I made for my band that isn't really a band...
http://soundcloud.com/e_numbers
One day we might band together though. One day. For One day.
All feedback welcome!
This dead good
It sounds like the Unicorns in parts and is really nicely produced. Great job.
Thanks!
E-numbers sounds about right
I ate a whole load of donuts today, this might've pushed me over the edge...sounds really good.
kettle drums!
:D
That's cool
Like how Tubelord should have sounded with more synths, instead of how they actually sound with more synths.
MAKES ME FIDGET
this is so great!
Loving your lo-fi jams too
Keep it going :)
I like this
pretty deranged
E-numbers
yeah
Go on then
http://soundcloud.com/pestotheband
Add us and we'll add you x
I thinks thats how it works anyways
I like these
you need to record some proper demos though
they could be really good
Cheers buddy
yeah we're deffo going to work on the recordings for our next set of songs.
Followed all these to have a listen later!
Mine's got some electronic stuff on there, but more recently all I've been doing is acoustic covers of the red dwarf and nyan cat themes
http://soundcloud.com/jonny_rat
which one
is the Nyan cat theme? I want to hear that.
a) I think it's 'what'
b) you really don't
(I did it for a friend who's obsessed with it and she never listened to it! the COW)
Your cover of the Rat
:'D
This is me
http://soundcloud.com/meatbreak
I have a few sets for different things/projects.
The The The Repeat Peters - I just uploaded a new track that I made at the weekend. Haven't done anything new myself for a while. I did it under my TTTRP guise, so it's in a set all on it's own. I also threw up the demo stuff I did when I came up with it a few years ago, in another set. Will probably be making a lot more on my own soon. fwiw.
Potemkjin Village / SwännS))) - the slightly unfunctioning band I am in with one other guy (Disser, natch) - psychedelic bassline noise & electronics
Wildlife - ambient sounds from around. I recorded a dawn chorus at 4am, that's pretty cool.
Syd Hauk - noise & vocals stuff me and my three year old do together.
Meatbreak - Most of an album of my Meatbreak stuff from years ago - psychedelic black trance noise with heavily effected drum machine, guitar & bass.
I am going to follow youze all now and listen to it, because I'm on my own in the office for a while yet.
<3 Meatbreak as a name. Awesome.
haha
thanks. yeah, I'm quite attached to it.
great stuff
getting dead c vibes!
woo!
now that's a compliment. which track was that? I just listened to your whole set, all awesome. great sampling, nice piano bits and I love how you swallow it all up with a detached derelict power station hum. yummy.
Little Pigeon
that was the first thing that came to mind anyway. love that aching, burnt out guitar tone.
Can't tell exactly why, but...
'One Straight Black Metal Riff Played To Fuck' was exactly what I've needed to listen to today.
Really liking Syd Hauk
participating
http://soundcloud.com/nobody_special
Should be some new stuff up soon (hopefully), electronic-y vibe
pretty good a lot of this
the Heaven17 style voice really suits the tracks

Oh, ta very much!
hello
http://soundcloud.com/james-mackey
just messing around with samples on audacity, hence them all being a bit messy, but it's all i've got
seriously loving this
adore the messiness too, can't stand it when stuff sounds overly 'midified'.
Aye
Loved that from the instant the beats came in in I'll Be Around.. and yeah, great messiness :)
these are really nice
REALLY nice
good good stuff
load of covers, then a couple of originals that have a bit of attention

I write weird pop songs about how awful everything is. Currently working on my second full-length, and would like to put a band together, so get in touch if you like what I'm doing and live in/near Kent!

er i'm working on stuff but have a few old fahey covers up..
http://soundcloud.com/nick-levene
not the best recordings ever..anyway have a listen and slay me!
You can cover John Fahey.
Well done sir, well done indeed. I don't have the patience for learning anything so complicated. I gave John Renbourn- The Pelican a try not too long ago, but just didn't have the time to get past the intro. Can you cover Hawaiian two step?
Also would really like to hear your own stuff.
Love John Fahey!
Great job.

ripped from a tape made ~25 years ago:
http://soundcloud.com/stickneyprimaryschool
background story: the bbc used to do some sort of annual song for christmas thingumy. something to do with goinglive, maybe. i suggested we enter. there was a teacher who was into pink floyd and a bit of a muso with a mate with a recording studio. and this is the result. the competition mysteriously didn't end up taking place (and i don't think they've done it since). pretty sure they were blown away by it and knew it wouldn't be fair to pit anyone against us.
Wonderful
Here's mine...

Hello.

If anyone wants to tell me what they think
I would like that.
hey, shatner!
Uploaded my first 'tune' this evening then saw this thread! electronic/loops/sub-fuck buttons bullshit
http://soundcloud.com/hey-shatner
That waveform is mental looking.
Good stuff, fuck buttons is a good thing to aspire to. my first tune was me messing with Fuck Buttons.
It's bit crap, but it's loud and abrasive.
http://soundcloud.com/skellywager/sweet-love-for-planet-james
And now for something shit.
Really...
http://soundcloud.com/sauvignonfear/rabxid-9
That's me on nanostudio.
Not sure if you're fishing for compliments here
but that's definitely not shit mate. How you finding nanostudio anyway?
thanks for the fahey cover comment!
skellywager - you do have to really kind of dedicate yourself to learning pieces like that....i tend to have 3 diff pieces on the go to alternate practising otherwise you'd go mad:) it does get easier but never..easy.. as for Hawaiian 2 step might have a go. Not sure my missus would encourage me.
Yeah I find it the same.
Whenever I try anything overcomplicated I lose the touch.Sometimes I get too technical with the tune and lose the feel and even sometimes the timing. I have to get back into playing properly again soon. Seen John Renbourn with just 3 other people, he played for nearly 3 hours stopping to do a raffle inbetween. I didn't win the live DVD :( I was on my own and he was sitting beside me drinking for a while and because it was so quiet I couldn't speak to him.

I don't know how to play any instruments so I have to rely on samples. I have started to learn piano so that I can learn notes. I have recently started experimenting with sounds recorded at home. But none of that stuff is up yet.

A couple of things...
My band An Axe: http://soundcloud.com/an-axe
"...like the Gun Club flick knife duelling with The Bad Seeds" I've been told, but probably far poppier (on these singles) than that.

Been making music influenced largely by post-rock, IDM, 'lo-fi' (as well as whatever I'm listening to most at the time) since being but a youngling.
I'm gradually improving (I aim to check out all of these above me too, when I'm not so knackered)
Really like this
Looking forward to checking out the rest of the stuff on your page I haven't listened to yet!

Thanks everyone!
Also enjoying this greatly
oh and here's mine: http://soundcloud.com/atomjar
A mixture of stuff here, including a cycle of >3 min songs starting with the letter 'V'. 95% of the hits I get are for the Bjork cover version though... (fun to do, but hardly the best thing I've done). All recorded on a cheap mic, and edited on audacity.
Thanks

Just a few W.I.P's up there. Feedback would be much appreciated though as I really think I'm wasting my time trying to develop this sound I have in my head, into something physical like a song. Agh.
Most of you make absolutely smashing music by the way. Props.

The amazing Cosmic Matrix
http://soundcloud.com/cosmic-matrix
I found an antique harmonium for £100 in a shop down the road from me.
And since then I have been writing music for it (mixing in synth sounds as well). In case you don't know what a harmonium is, it's a type of organ, popular in the Victorian era, where you make the sound by using your feet to pump air through it with a bellows. I love this instrument. There's two tracks I wrote with it on the page below:
http://soundcloud.com/ocean-floor
If any of you have a 19th Century Harmonium itch that needs to be scratched, you might like it.
This is tryst
stupid phone!!!
This is truly wonderful - is what I actually wrote. Love it! You can really play too. The Caretaker will be calling to pop and crackle you up in no time.
Just listening to 'Red Brick Tower' now
Lives up to the expectations I built up while reading your synopsis above; by which I mean, this is hella ace.
Thanks, GoatmeatMF, mute-branches!
I love this instrument so much I'm writing a whole album for it. Should be ready within a couple of months.
do you know what is strange?
In my Soundcloud activity queue you appear next to How To Dress Well's new track 'Ocean Floor For Everything'.
just one of the cute little quirks of the universe.
It's actually pretty cool
And well produced!
When I heard the first track
It was brimming with good ideas - If I lived in the UK, would certainly jam with you.
I was thinking a New Order-esque crossover thing since I'm pretty rock oriented but I can only dream I'll find someone like that over here.
Then I realised that 'Someone, Somewhere' is a Simple Minds song then I did a sadface in real life.
(forever musically alone)

Great Idea
I've really enjoyed the last week.. I've heard some great music, met and chatted to like-minded people AND had some nice things said about my music..

Here's me, uploaded especially for the occasion:
http://soundcloud.com/styrofoamboots/wax-crayons-run-rabbit
the drone sounds are cassette loops, and I got my housemate to record some drums in his bedroom.
Nice, did you just cut the tape so it doesn't loop around the reel but still feeds over the head.
Been meaning to do this for ages. Nice sound though, keep it up.
Thanks man!
for the loops I just recorded some drones onto tape, then cut sections out, and reattached them like this http://www.instructables.com/id/Audio-Cassette-Loop/
Its a bit fiddly but quite fun, especially if you mess with the tape player/recorder as well.
Second piece of nice lo-fi I've heard from this thread today
Should probably mention that I love your username too!
:) thanks!
a fellow Modest Mouse fan I take it? I'm hoping to rip off their sound a lot more in the future..

Because SunnO)))day is coming
Me and my boy were asked to support SunnO))) at their Brighton show. an unbelievable offer that we couldn't accept for various reasons. Mostly revolving around the fact that he's only 3! We recorded a version of the kind of thing we would have done had we been able to do the show, and this is it:

cheers man
I've got so much stuff that's lying around in this state of unfinished that I really need to get my arse in gear and do it justice... like LOADS of it
thanks for the encouragement :)
Might as well. Throw a proper package together
and I'll hook you up with some album art if you're interested.
sounds interesting
got an art link?
........
This is absolutely epic
cheers
real cowbells, claps, claves and shakers give it a nice sloppy groove I think
minimal on the kick too
I have a whole cut up gospel choir & a lead vocal to go on it too but my computer can't handle all the tracks so I have to nail an arrangement & bounce it before I can put all that on
that tends to be my sticking point
I was going to say..
The percussion feels really organic and human, it's really nice. The whole thing sounds lovely through my headphones

one more to take me to my soundcloud time limit

I have an AWESOME topline for this but I'm struggling with lyrics - everything is sounding cheesy and corny. It's a 'oh, imagine the joy if you and me got together' kind of thing. I guess the groove doesn't really lend itself to deep political comment. Anyone got any alternative suggestions?
also, this is kind of backwards - the big straight house bit that makes up the 2nd part should be the build up with it dropping into the superfunk bassline stuff
Silky.
Do you listen to Mungolian Jetset? You should. New album is coming out soon too.

I've done a couple more recently
I went looking for lounge music samples and covered them in vinyl hiss and added some bass and some lazy beats, I'm quite proud of the way they came out.

Set one is experimental noises from a few years back. Set two is superrrr rough, super lofi demos with proper instruments (only really one there to send to a friend), set three is a band ep from a few years ago.
My new one. Called 'Milky Way Camel Ride'

I feel a bit late to the party.
But I'll whack mine into the pile.
My personal one is just cut up songs as my Ableton spazzes out whenever I try to use synths. I haven't updated it in a while but have a few songs in the pipeline. I did a few mixes, but they took up all my space so I took them down. The 65 remix is pretty badly mixed, but you get the general idea...

Proem is me and my housemate. Deep housey garage stuff, or that was the plan anyway. This will be updated more as we've written more tunes, but just not uploaded them.

Loving everything I've heard so far. Giggling along to the Last of the Summer Wine remix. Excellent stuff.

I've followed everyone in this thread
I don't think I missed anyone anyway
Haven't had time to listen to everything but I've been working my way through - loads of awesome stuff
More than enough material to make a great podcast out of once a month for a while. Might try and do that - pick my 10 favourite tunes and put them together in a radio show type format.
Is that something that people would be interested in?
Sure, that would be good.
That'd be pretty cool
got a few like
http://soundcloud.com/alcxxk & http://soundcloud.com/alcxxk2 are hours of pissing around, with a few fairly well realised ideas in there
