Beatle-mania is alive and well DiS. I think the title is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case, here's an example:
Mine is 'Strangelight' by Fugazi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajrCZJgwoh4
It's not that obvious as first, but that's why its one of my favourite songs (Fugazi or otherwise). It's a song that starts off slow, creepy and subtle, but then that riff creeps in and out again, before fully announcing itself about 3 minutes in. The vocal melodies are mccartney and lennon all-over. And then, that final breakdown. Those Pianos that thunderously storm in like the end of Day in a Live, accompanied by strings (who pre-empt the final lead guitar line) and trumpets (who mimic the bass guitar). I adore this song (and the one after it)
so yeah, any other examples of this? I would actually go as far as saying Fugazi were The Beatles for another generation/genre (there are loads of similarities) but I'll leave that hanging for now.
