Why is it so cheap?
still good value though... I've seen them both DJ before and it was ace.
I saw Fugazi at Brixton in the 90's... £5 ticket, no light show, no bullshit... one of the best things I've ever seen.
this is kind of inspired by that I guess
the full lineup to be announced soon is mind blowing
But that cost the same amount?
Hopefully us older people get access to some hammocks or a tea room?
He said on his twitter that it's a venue thing (maybe to do with think 25 at the bar?) but there won't be segregation.
Thanks for the heads up
i hate seetickets. so so much.
Me too, fuckers. I am going to complain the shit out of them too.
What address did you use? I could only find one which bounced back.
enter your details, then it will give you a chance to send a query.
If you click refunds it just gives you a message saying "jokes on you NO REFUNDZ" so just send it as a general query.
Nice one man thanks!
Fucking hell I thought it'd take ages. That's a shame.
more to come i'm sure!
suggests that tickets are on sale tomorrow - midday
Full lineup, according to FTet's twitter:
Ben UFO, Floating Points, Four Tet b2b Caribou, James Holden, Pangaea, Pearson Sound: Brixton Academy 2nd Nov 10-6am £5
Might just buy a few tickets tomorrow to make sure I have someone to go with, be mad not to at that price (even if it is basically the same lineup I'm seeing off-Sonar in a few weeks!)
going to try and get as many people down to this as possible :D
Ben UFO, Floating Points, Pangaea and Pearson Sound are worth it alone. I don't really rate Four Tet, Caribou or James Holden but Four Tet is a good DJ.
And looks like it sold out now.
this might work?
I'm trying for a couple now.
first time I'm fallen for it, damn you See.
TICKETS NOT AVAILABLE
£1.50 to 'collect' my tickets at the box office? Sure, why not.
seemed to go fast.
Such a line up.
Have 4 tickets going for face value plus postage. Would have to post them tomorrow or Wednesday ideally.
If anyone's interested, send me a message.
brak has first refusal, shall PM the others if that falls through.
PM if you have one spare. Cheers!
Willing to sell at face value and post tomorrow, PM me. Potential for 1 or 2 more spares too, waiting for things to crystallise.
Selling at face value, think it was about £14 including postage. I'll pay the postage. Off out now but will check back later
so a friend can join us tomorrow, can anyone help us out?
But if anyone's got a ticket going they need to sell, please send me a PM as it would be much appreciated.
Did everyone enjoy?
Really liked the Ben UFO / Pearson etc even though there wasn't many people there. Floating Points started off well but then lost the crowd in the second. Four Tet and Caribou were brilliant. Holden ace.
Not convinced by the academy as a club, sound was only good if you stood in certain places but for a fiver I had a great night.
Wasn't for me at all, and kinda brought my buzz down a bit.
However, Four Tet and Caribou were awesome and got a going off.
Holden was a mixed bag for me, some great stuff, some left me a bit meh.
Made it to 6am lights up, purely on coffee. Chuffed with myself
I wanted to stay but the others with me weren't enjoying it.
I didn't "get" Floating Points either. I guess it just wasn't the kind of thing was expecting
took a while to get going but when it did I loved it.
live down the road so had a nice gathering at mine till 1130 then headed down for hours of dancing
by 5 i was running out of steam, left at 530 and tucked up in bed shortly after
need more club nights like that at the academy
Although I would've swapped the Hessle lot with Floating Points, as the atmosphere seemed to drop down after their set (which I annoyingly only caught an hour of). Wasn't that convinced by James Holden's set but we were all knackered by 5 anyway so left at 5.30 and go the first tube.
Amazing value for the money though, and I quite enjoyed the Academy as a venue for a one-off, just like a big party. Even the dealers were dancing.
Arrived about 1145. Queued 20 minutes to get in. Then 20 minutes in the cloakroom queue. Then another wait to get to the bar. Missed everyone before Floating Points. My own fault, I know, but frustrating.
Twitter seemed to be full of people giving away tickets for it?
I would have liked to have attended and all...
where it felt rammed, lot of people left around 3. I ended up with loads of spares but sold them all easily, seemed to be in demand.
and it felt rammed all night until i stepped out for a piss at 5 and realised half the crowd had left!
i think lots of people just bought several tickets at once for friends as they were only a fiver and they sold out so quick, thats what we all did so we had a couple spare in the end we sold on
And then two more got their tickets torn up for bumping ket in the queue because they're fucking morons. I'm still really angry about that actually, at least the 8 of us that actually went had a great time.
I actually think putting Pearson Sound/Ben UFO/Pangea b2b was a little bit of a waste of good DJs - even though I like Floating Points somewhat, he's always a bit divisive... When Pearson Sound wants to he can knock out massive crowd pleasing sets. Should have spread those guys out and had some shorter sets for everyone apart from Four Tet v Caribou IMO.
The headline set was quality & got the crowd going, but there was a more noticeable drop in numbers when it was finished than you're average night. Made it til 5.30, but was running on empty by then, so my enjoyment of Holden took a nose dive, and it was time to stumble towards the exit.
As for the sound, it was decent if you stood near the front and near the speakers, but it was never going to be *amazing* at Brixton for a fiver. Overall, a ruddy good fun times to money flow ratio.
Pearson Sound/Ben UFO/Pangea b2b were great and it did dip somewhat during FP. Holden was great despite messing up a few speed change overs here and there.
We were towards the back where the ceiling is low for Four Tet/Caribou, was really bassy and felt more like a proper club than nearer the front/middle.
Had a superb night overall, shame loads of people left before/during Holden as it was a really good set but maybe he was a bit heavy going for some people idk.
I lasted until 5 before my batteries ran out.
Couldn't believe the number of people openly walking about smoking. I must've seen eight people get kicked out.
if anyone's interested in that. Sure it will be on iplayer too.
he was talking about how the harp sound in Brandy & Monica's The Boy is Mine (which he dropped at Brixton) influenced his use of harps in his music.
With a terrifying photo of Mr Hebden to boot
Caribou & Four Tet were reliably great, but pretty much everything that was on before them (apart from a 10 minute respite when some decent dubby stuff got played) was really uninspiring, soul-sapping dross.
Floating Points play Way Mi Defend by Kahn. Never saw that one coming.
