I got into them about the same time as their last tour happened, there is a video of when they played Cambridge which would have been the show I'd have gone to and its incredible:
but thats great to hear. They seem to be one of those bands that went dangerously unnoticed at the time but pretty much when anyone does discover them its a total revelation for them
yes, they were pretty much my favourite band for a time
they should really stop being hipster folk fags and get back to playing to no-one at Brooklyn Waterfront:

its cool though because as long as they're not together I can keep ripping them off in my band
I could never totally get into them, not sure why but they
always sounded a lot more boring/normal sounding indie ish to me, couldn't get what all the fuss was about.
geez, dagger through my heart

WHERE DO YOUR TROUBLES GET YOU DOWN, HOW DO YOU EVEN SLEEP AT NIGHT?!
What's the best album? May give them another go..........
I Was Born at Night just edges it for me...
Strangers in our House is great too though.
I could never really get into their final album (struggling to recall what it's called)
yeah, this
last album was called The In Hour. It had a couple of decent tracks but was ultimately a flawed, early incarnation of what would become Woods
I never got to see them live...
I remember mentioning that on here once and someone replied incredulously 'But they tour here all the time!!!'
By 'all the time' they meant that they'd played the Hoxton Ferret & Spam Dagger twice in 18 months or something.
oh god me too
I got into them about the same time as their last tour happened, there is a video of when they played Cambridge which would have been the show I'd have gone to and its incredible:

(this is one of my favourite live videos on the internet)
I used to live 10 minutes from the Portland Arms...
only ever saw dodgy punk bands like Goober Patrol there though
I played there with Maths once
good venue
Portland Arms is my favourite venue bar none.
I have never heard of this band,
but House of Cats above is fucking brilliant.
Can't wait to get stuck in to their discography. :)
unfortunately there's not much of it
but thats great to hear. They seem to be one of those bands that went dangerously unnoticed at the time but pretty much when anyone does discover them its a total revelation for them
I got I Was Born At Night.
Listened to it once, and I absolutely love it.
They remind me, in a way, or Elle Milano. Which is good, because Acres of Dead Space Cadets is one of my favourite albums.
gonna find out who that is
just listened to IWBAN due to this thread, still great
This is actually what DiS is for...
well that and as a distribution forum for LOLcats and nob jokes.
Radiohead
This aint dying that easily
here's some other highlights:
Bury A Flower: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgBqTR0Fdpc
probably the band at their poppiest, the 7" version is really good as well and led to the kind of recording they used for the last album and Woods.
Paint You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq5humx6v9M
which follows Bury a Flower and is a total barn-stormer, and:
We Own, We Sell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dipzuEYKpQ
a highlight from the 3rd album
Listened to I Was Born At Night on the way home from work earlier...
it must have medicinal qualities because today was rubbish, yet I arrived home happy.
ONE HAND IS BROKEN AND THE OTHER NEEDS A BREAK
AND DONT YOU LET US FIT IN, LET US FIT IN MY SOUL!
I have an exam on Friday
and I Was Born At Night is making studying okay. I owe you so much for this thread.
Meant to reply to Alex-in-Ciderland
