will probably have a spliff in his hand & a massive cloud of smoke encircling his head.
going tonight
what happened?
played...
around 4/5 songs off maxinquaye (most of which he wasn't onstage for, just martina). then got his brother on to rap for 10 minutes, played a few new songs, got the crowd onstage and that was it. not really performing maxinquaye, basically.
That sounds shit...
was tempted to go tonight. You've put me right off.
Easily one of the worst gigs I've been to
Gloriously shambolic.
Did anyone try to string together some sort of setlist?
I have no opinion on Tricky
but I'm strangely chuffed by this story.
Saw him at the Forum
in 1998 I think, he was really bad, just painful. Never listened to his music ever again, the gig put me off him.
Almost made a trans-West Country trip to watch this...
glad I didn't now.
He's great.
Really wanna see him again at somewhere other than the bloody Arches - he was good there a couple of years ago, which is a rare feat for that venue, but then he came back a year later to play the same place... :-(.
Sounds like the sort of set performed by the guy
who featured with Beyonce at Glastonbury.
still don't know what the hell that was all about
read somewhere that Beyonce was trying to humiliate him after he said Jay-Z shouldn't be headlining glastonbury. still pretty weird.
featured
came onstage, fluffed his lines and then was probably removed from said stage with a shepherd's crook while the cameras were showing something else.
Someone has put a setlist here

Really glad I didn't fork out for this now.
re 1998
saw the same tour in Glastonbury that year. easily amongst the worst nights ever. worst year for mud, and he was on *last* before Blur. awful times.
Is this news?
Tricky has always been absolutely soul-crushingly shit live. He cannot do anything but harm to his record sales and reputation by touring.
Saw him support PJ Harvey right after Maxinquaye came out. It only worked cos of the lack of burden on him - and cos Peej was so utterly immense right afterwards.
Fuck, even his records since Maxinquaye have been a bit wank.
really?
Pre-Millennial Tension and the Nearly God album were bloody brilliant, in my opinion. Also, sad to hear it was a bit off, I've had this live bootleg from '99 that was brilliant, reworked songs, really energetic and atmospheric, was really tempted to go just by that. This sounds a bit odd though.
One of the girls from the audience on stage was quite hot though
So wasn't all bad.
