Can't believe this hasn't been <jagged> yet. Oops!
Hope to see some forum folk there, last one was a real blast...
Drowned in Sound and Harley Live present:
(The Event Formerly Known As Rollerpalooza)
@ Skate Central, Queens Road, Sheffield
Hopefully you remember the drill: turn up to a skating rink, don some skates, consume some beverages and roll around said rink to the sounds of live bands and DJs. Stage at one end, bar at the other. It's been way too long since the last one (2010!) - we have a feeling this is going to be fun...
Eighteen months on from the afrobeat-inspired robotic disco of ‘Come Down With Me,’ Errors return with their third full length album ‘Have Some Faith In Magic’ on Rock Action records - an album that once and for all dismisses the overly regurgitated “post-rock” tag. It’s their firmest move yet towards something that over the past few years the Glaswegian four-piece has always hinted at: Errors have just gone and made a pop record.
Polinski (Laptop/DJ set)
A rare Sheffield appearance for 65daysofstatic's Paul Wolinski in his solo guise. Expect to dance! This is a special, one-off Polinski set geared towards you lot on skates – we're honoured.
After smashing minds at The Harley on the Friday night of Tramlines 2011, we thought we'd let these perennial DiS favourites loose on the rink. You may recall their DJ set at the last event, this time they'll be fully live and in your faces. Sweet.
A novella (also called a short novel, or novelette) is a written, fictional, prose narrative usually longer than a novelette but shorter than a novel... oops, wrong Novella. Ours is a wonderfully scuzzy indie-rock outfit from London with a ton of tunes.
The Proper Ornaments
Melodic pop in the vein of The Byrds and The Beach Boys to ease you into the skating experience, The Proper Ornaments (who feature members of Let's Wrestle) will be making their Sheffield debut. Get down early, make them feel welcome.
