The best David Bowie album .
Oh! You Pretty Things and Queen Bitch are such great tunes.
but Bowie followed it with Ziggy Stardust which just shades it in my view (more focussed, harder and sharper edged).
Hunky Dory is an amazing record though - has there ever been a better one-two opening punch on a record than Changes and Oh You Pretty Things?
I know everyone will disagree - just never really liked it.
I don't like teh Bob Dylan song either.
I think that those are the two songs that let down Hunky Dory a bit as well. Both songs are a bit fey and affected.
I don't hate them but I'm quite glad when they're over and Queen Bitch kicks in.
Ziggy has no moments like that which is why its (slightly) the better album.
and the lyrics are fantasticly illustrative. love life on mars too
though like Station to Station most of all.
Are so different, I find it difficult to compare them. But the former is one of my favourite albums of all time.
The latter has Life on Mars, which has got to be one of the best songs ever.
no skippable tracks. its all works as a piece, flows so well and doesnt breezes past.
TVC15 and Stay are paranoid coke addled wierdo disco classics
if you can decipher my pish
but I'm not sure I can ever listen to Kooks again
I'd go for The Man Who Sold The World.
the bewlay brothers is where it's at!
there's such a variety in style that comparing Bowie records can be like comparing completely separate artists at times.
Hunky Dory is one of those records that when I get round to playing I remember that I really love it, but for some reason its rarely at the top of Bowie records I think to put on.
