supporting PWEI. same one?
of that name.
at least, their hair would suggest so.
bands like moloko, devotchka and the malchicks are not just named after the Russian words, rather than Clockwork Orange references?
fair point though, was just wondering. I speak a bit of russian and I guess that's why when I'd heard the band names I'd not made the Clockwork Orange link...
This is what it says about Moloko on their wikipedia page:
The band's name originates from the Nadsat slang in the novel A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, in which it means "milk" (from the Russian word for milk, ??????), actually the name of a milk drink that Alex and his "droogs" consume mixed with "drencrom"
But you've got a point about DevotchKa - it says nothing about A Clockwork Orange on their page - just references the Russian meaning.
You're probably also right about Malchicks - can't find anything on them..
I wonder if Kubrick came up with all of these names, or if he collaborated with Burgess?
Although, I think I may remember that Burgess wasn't a fan of the film, but was on-board during the beginning stages??
The site, I mean..
pretty sure they split.
