Who's going? Are they good live?
Not helped by their lack of interaction with the crowd, but once it kicked into gear it was pretty ace.
Definitely more of a slow burning show compared to the album which is quite punchy, like there was one song where they almost went off on a jam
Her voice is great live and they managed to put across the soundscapes of the record pretty well
Not too bothered about audience interaction, I'd much rather a band was 'in the zone' than waffling on and breaking up the flow
But i was knackered and couldn't really feel anything except wanting to go to bed.
The lead singer's cape.
I adore the album, and perhaps was unfairly expecting a whole other beast. It seems like they're more into 'drone' or databases or something than I had envisaged.
According to tweets I exchanged with the editor of Line of Best Fit they were really shy when they played in December and that was the band coming on a bit as a live 'thing'.
I look forward to them coming out of their tortoise shell.
...Maria seemed extremely shy, altho also genuinely pleased with the audience appreciation. Went with my girlfriend who has not heard the album and she was impressed with their wall of sound/drone approach live and was most surprised when I compared them on record with M83. Don't think it helped that one of the mics was obviously playing up.
Not overlong, live versions of a few tracks extended out nicely, decent sound. Yeah.
Visually unengaging though I thought. The aforementioned lack of interaction (muttering a few words through a mic stacked with reverb aside), but also the set was backlit only and was near darkness for most of the time, while the front row was frequently spotlit.
But whatever, closed eyes and enjoyed.
when i did get lost in it, it was glorious.
Agree with most of the comments above, took time for them to get into it, couldn't see much of the band, for all the smoke and back lighting. I still enjoy their recorded stuff and will probably catch them again at Latitude.
although that opening tremolo a capella type thing to start with was a bit trippy.
Man without country last song when it got massive was well good.
agree with "closed eyes and enjoyed" comment
who won the 2 Primavera tickets?
