Just been reading an old Uncut article from 98 about Led Zep and their 'antics' on tour in early 70s. Glorifies it all a bit, including an incident where they tied up a 17 year old woman and used a fish to interfere with her various orifices. And, more shockingly as I did not know, the following:

...didn't Jerry Lee Lewis and Woody Allen etc etc do kinda similar? yet Page seems to have this airbrushed over.

Well, words are used differently in different contexts
'Paedophilia' has a technical meaning as a psychiatric diagnosis which you correctly state.
In everyday parlance it refers to sexual activity with children. Our society defines 14 year olds as children and adults who have sex with them as paedophiles.
I think we are mixing up
what is morally wrong to the individual, the law, and the blur between the two that is "what society regards as acceptable".

Probably the individual thing he's best known for is shagging a 13-year-old, but nobody really minded.
I have a feeling that attitudes changed a lot in the '80s/'90s... I mean, the concept of the 'teenager' was only really invented in the '50s, before that you were pretty much regarded as a grown up post pubescence, I guess people were still kicking the idea around a bit in the '70s.
I read Bill Wyman's autobiography a few years ago and it's awful, basically a dead eyed list of women he and the Stones and the Stones' roadies shagged, and most of them appear to have been about 13. I think it was publishd around 1990, but you just wouldn't publish something like that any more.
I think with Jerry Lee Lewis it was the fact it was his cousin that freaked the British out as much as the age thing.
