and I thought they were going to be around forever
sound like. Are they shit?
only shitter, obvs
Even though the guys are breaking up, they promise to keep keep their music and legacy thriving through new licensing, publishing and merchandise releases, so expect to still see “new” Jet surface in the coming years. “We will continue the Jet brand and their global footprint,” said Jet manager and Tenth Street Entertainment’s Vice President of Tour Marketing Brad Friess. “Although the band will cease to exist as an entity, we will be working very closely with the members of Jet to keep the fans happy with new product in the market place.”
Just when you thought the absolute bottom of the barrel in music consumption had been scraped, you find another layer

The Morning Benders are rather great.
Snap your fingers, all you hipsters.
Ironic bullshit, I don't wanna talk about that.
Get your closeup, set up your profile.
I don't believe you, well, I'm gonna teach you, go!

One Hipster, One Bullit.
I got my finger on the trigger and I want to pull it.
Some people like me now, some they don't.
But, I know what I like, and I love rock n roll.
There's so much dead weight, I can't see straight.
But, I don't believe you, here comes the preacher, go!
Check, check, check, check, check your head at the door.
You little pitchfork whore, at your thrift store.
You are a fucking bore, you make me sick!
(Now you're dancing)
At the beauty bar, you're a fucking star.
I got my finger on the trigger and I want to pull it, bang!

That particular bit of tagging on this thread actually made me LOL. Cheers to whoever is responsible for that one.
didn't know about that p4k review. I hate that website less now haha.
But find me a record Pitchfork have championed, ever, that sounds even remotely like Jet.
hope they made money from TV adverts
Jet may not be to everyone's taste but Shine On was written after the singer's Dad died so they were pretty emotional and proud of it at the time. Pitchfork could have written some words saying they didn't like it but had to go and be dicks about it.
It's a clip of a chimp pissing into its own mouth
as I did when I heard Reach For The Stars by S Club 7.
didn't think they were still around. Always preferred The Misfits anyway.
I mean everybody knows how derivative they are. But to some people who listen to commercial FM radio and just like generic balls-out rock & roll, "derivative" equals "classic". Plus there's a large coterie of pitiable cretins who think you should champion anything & everything Australian, regardless of quality. So yes, those people like Jet. Everybody else thinks they fucking blow.
And although I never actually listened to it as such, I'm sure I must have heard just about every track of it in shopping centres etc at the time it came out. Didn't inspire me to buy it.
Now I'm not exactly in touch, but I just kind of assumed they had already broken up. Until this thread I had no idea they had put out a second album.
Bit like Wolfmother I suppose, except Wolfmother were if anything more derivative, but pulled it off a bit better. Have they broken up too? Don't know if they've put out a second album but I'd bet they'd struggle every bit as much as Jet.
And yeah, not that I've quizzed them, but I'm pretty sure everyone I know of would agree that Jet were shit. But there's probably a large swathe of bogans who reckon that first album is AWESOME and are going to play it again tonight in tribute. While downing a few Jim Beam and Coke RTDs. Then they'll smoke a few cones and watch the Footy Show.
