A Brief Crack Of Light
Black Breath - Sentenced to Life
Narrows - Painted
Loincloth - Iron Balls of Steel
Was a bit disappointed with the new Ceremony but it's starting to grow on me after seeing them do it live the other day.
only really listened to the new album, did it make up most of the set? or should I listen to some earlier stuff as well?
That Narrows record is a total winner as well.
the last album was brill...
i wouldn't worry about it.
Anyway, their album ex lives is ok, but a bit monotonous, but I keep going back for more
Their early stuff is more straight up h/c but my favorite is probably Rohnert Park from 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJBu8LxymeI
Such a good live band.
this re: Ceremony
Christian Mistress - Possession
Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction
Orange Goblin - A Eulogy for the Damned
Pop 1280. - The Horror
Napalm Death - Utilitarian
Mars Volta - Noctourniquet
Meshuggah - Koloss
Melvins - The Birds and the Bees
who feature members of Amber Asylum, Barren Harvest and Agalloch released their latest album 'Come the Thaw' this month, think post-metal/ambient doom with neo-classical vocals.
Drudkh - Eternal Turn of The Wheel
Mooted as a return to their lo-fi black metal roots, but treads similar atmospheric black-metal acts such as Wolves in the Throne Room and sounds all the better for it.
'Harmonicraft' is out on April 24th.
Apparently there's going to be a new Baroness record in 'early summer', but I'm not holding my breath.
The Pallbearer album is really sweet. Not entirely convinced by ETID's 'Ex-Lives' yet...
Was 'Angels of Light' 2 any good?
Don't really know if Earth belong in heavy threads anymore. It seems to do them somewhat of a disservice.
HIGH ON FIRE
i got giddy cause i pre-ordered it just now, single's out though. the drum sound is much > than snakes for the divine
i think hof are gonna be this generation's motorhead, carry on until everyone is dead.
I think it's Pike's vocals. Which is weird.
they are fucking unstoppably great.
all the time. I really like his vocals and Im really picky about metal vocals, usually thats what turns me off of a lot of bands.
It's the way they fit with the music. Feels kind of awkward for some reason. I'm going to listen to them this weekend and try and work out why / actually start to like them. Remember the percussion on their records being fucking excellent, which is why I really want to get into them. not enough good percussion in metal.
but it's never sounded awkward to me. and bugger me if every song doesn't have at least 4 great riffs. he get's up to iommi hit-rates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nyfYwr7wD4 when the gallop starts <3
that's so quiet
It came out last year but that doesnt matter
definitely last year
------Meanderthal is the second full length studio album by the Miami, Florida band Torche. It was released on April 8, 2008.------
This has been a pleasing conversation, you bastard.
Spring, they say.
Liberteer: Better To Die On Your Feet Than Live On Your Knees. some ex-marine who decided to make old school grindcore which is GOOD
Napalm Death: Utalitarian. just classic ND really but there is an amazing song with John Zorn worth getting from Amazon mp3 or where ever
Namely Blut Aus Nord. Fucking amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji-_tMa5m0Y
Can confirm the Black Breath record is excellent. Very fast and very hard. It literally blows past you in 30 minutes.
Ceremony record - Really don't rate it. Sounds too much like Wire.
The new Pelican EP sounds really nice and I've just got a promo copy of the new Torche. Hope it's good and not too The Hunter-y (excellent band turning into Foo Fighters at their most MOR) , first record since they shed their bassist...
granted it's not quite FF territory but it doesn't have the rawness they used to have. Same problem I've had with everything they've released since Blood Mountain, all their songs are coated in this horrible glossy sheen.
(nothing like Crusher/Destroyer, March of the Fire Ants) but I think they've got better personally. Oh well. I'm very much looking forward to Sonisphere and The Hunter in full; gonna be EPIC.
for me it falls in with Blood Mountain as a solid if unspectacular album with a couple of stand out tracks on it.
Wasn't the third 777 record supposed to come out this month?
I'm enjoying it a lot.
Heard most of the new Therapy? and it's proper decent.
Currently listening to a new 3 Inches of Blood track and it kills. \m/
lightning bolt/indie pop/nwobhm style thing
this sounds great
Terrific name as well.
nice one, codpieceface
it's not remotely metal anyway, don't go in thinking that.
Is this the right place to freak out? I think so. I'm one of those crazy fuckers who thinks their last two records are better than Jane Doe, so I'm pretty hyped for that.
aside from that I've been feeling Liberteer and the new Drudkh album. Better than Handful Of Stars (and I liked that one more than most people I think), and waaaay better than Microcosmos. Maybe their best ever. Pallbearer is also excellent. Still catching up on a few 2011 items of interest, last year's records from Ulcerate and Wold warrant many, many listens.
I would genuinely put You Fail Me on over Jane Doe. Not being an indie bell, just prefer it.
Top thread, btw.
The ultimate hardcore power ballad.
