  • I dunno, it'll still be a lot of fun

still trying to wrap my head around the £20 asking price though

    • From what I've seen of their live shows the set lists vary a lot

best to think of it more of a live DJ set then a gig

      • KennyDope

People didn't lose interest, they are now HUGE. They headlined hyde park 2 years ago, Lovebox and the nme tent at Reading/Leads last year.

Also, they (And I helped) have made 22 (out of 24) new mixes with visuals that we've released via the Radiosoulwax app , www.radiosoulwax.com and via their channel on vimeo.

There'll be SOMETHING you love there no doubt.

        • "The app is shite?" seriously?

Did you just watch one hour or something? the app/hours on it are seriously amazing and showcase a breadth of musical knowledge that is frankly jaw dropping and goes way,way beyond "electroclash." If you've listened to them all, fair enough. If not, check out the celestial voyages/ jack in the box, into the vortex hours on the vimeo channel/app.

By "people" do you mean your circle of friends? I ask respectfully because your perception seems to be quite far removed from the actuality of the situation on this particular matter, they've been playing larger and larger places steadily over the last decade, despite not having actually made any major 2manydj's releases, they generally have gotten popular from word of mouth, and not press coverage, so if your friends aren't talking about them, i can see how things would seem that way to you...

          • pretty much everyone apart from you thinks the app is rubbish tbf

          • Surprised people are still into this nonsense

"Mash Ups" (eurgh) were an interesting idea for about one week around ten years ago. Nothing more than a gimmick in my opinion.

          • Well, the bootleg cd's were just that, illegally produced bootlegs,

and not official representations of where they are at, they weren't meant for people to buy or to be sequels to their one official release. Dj's often play the same tracks in their sets, as i am sure you know and if you recorded and released pretty much any dj's sets, in a particular time period, you'd get a lot of repetition.

As for the app, a large percentage of it IS older stuff, and the focus in the selection has always been on bringing to a wider audience lost and unknown gems. If you don't like that, fair enough, and if you don't like the genres of music chosen, also fair enough. Then it's a matter of differing taste, and I respect that. I don't think you if you know about music that you can argue that it hasn't been done well. I know people who dj both chicago records and cosmic disco records and fans of hardcore punk, real trainspottery types who think the mixes are amazing.

F.Y.I. They don't use Serato when playing live and never have they use cdj 2000's now, and dvj's for the under the covers tour. For UTC they are limited by the tracks they have made animations for (over 200) , but they are pretty much always faced with capacity crowds going crazy.

Also, strictly speaking, they haven't made a mash up in pretty much ten years(maybe eight) The perception that that's what they do is frankly, erroneous probably caused by journalists who don't know mixing from mashing up (there's a big difference) yet they still get referred to as mash up kings. It's lazy writing in my opinion that has served to perpetuate a myth.

Give the app another try if you want, I'd be amazed if you don't enjoy at least some of it- lots of people do. If not fair enough, we can agree to disagree.

            • Well, like most dj's with any longevity they only play things they love

and grime and uk funky don't match their tastes, so they won't make it into the set. So yeah, a combination of old stuff and new. But from what you say, probably not what you would love.

The best representation of their current "live" set would be the under the covers 3 hour. Their Dj sets are a bit more varied (due to the aforementioned need to make an animation first for the live show) , and similar. The radio project was devised to show the other sides of them that they can't really get away with when playing to large crowds. And some things from the radio have subsequently leaked into the live set... If you don't like it , once again fair enough, perhaps they aren't for you anymore, but at the same time, they are for a lot of people. And If you do like it, cool. A lot of effort goes into what they do.
