No matter how hard you try, you just don't get them
and we all agreed it was stupid
I just wanted to get this off my chest
There, I said it. So many people I respect absolutely love The Smiths and afford Morrissey (and Marr) almost godlike status. But I just don't get them.
I find them clinical, emotionless and unexciting.
Oh and Built To Spill. Though having not seen them live they may still have a chance.
and still claim to not like Built To Spill, I tip my cap to you.
I will give it a go
remember splashing out on an import of that a few years ago after becoming obsessed with Keep it like a Secret. I'm not even sure how I heard of the band, maybe last.fm or something.
pop songs ruined by noise.
Noise, ruined by pop songs.
Preferred October Language.
Aeroplane Over The Sea - it's prefectly pleasant but that's about it for me.
...Grace by Jeff Buckley. What's that all about?
you're onto something there....
...and you're doubting Grace? Good Gracious!
I've listened to it several times.
I just don't see what sets it aside from scores of similar albums by other artists.
I'm aware it's not just because he died so young as it was a pretty big deal at the time too. Just can't get on board with it.
Influence probably every band I love, but don't like 'em.
Apart from Tomorrow Never Knows - Great Song
I bought Daydream Nation when I was really getting into bands like Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. as they always seemed to be linked to them in some way on wikipedia or last.fm. I still don't really like that record. I heard Sonic Nurse and a couple of others too recently and I just don't like them anywhere near as much as other bands of that ilk.
Specifically with MPP. The soundscapes are gorgeous and there are a few songs I like (My Girls, Summertime Clothes, In the Flowers). But for the most part, the songwriting just seems so flat. It's just so boring.
And don't even get me started with the rest of their discography.
and the Clash.
Re the Who: if I never hear that fucking twinkly plinkly keys riff to the start of Bubba O'Reilly again it really will be too soon.
has to be The Horrors. I just don't get the hype! Even saw them live and it made it worse!
