BAD HEDGE featuring Hot Head Show, Perhaps Contraption, The Display Team (31/03/12)

The Display Team welcomes you to their second “Bad Hedge” night, our own attempt to bring together some of the foremost of those who like to dabble in the dangerous spice of musical experimentation, producing potent cocktails which defy genre classification and stun palates into submission.

It is with the auspice of this occasion that we are very excited to bring to you the amazing HOT HEAD SHOW! These boys have been hopping state-side, as well as Euro-jaunting (supporting none other than the mighty Primus) and now bring their very own brand of energy-fuelled, wonky, prog-funk (alright, I’m running out of seemingly meaningless adjectives) to The Miller. See their wares here for added familiarity:

But the awesomeness doesn’t stop there, oh no. Further to this, we will have the wonderful PERHAPS CONTRAPTION, who, in their own words, are “an ever-evolving, genre bridging musical performance collective. An astonishing 8 piece, twisted brass, art pop, marching band”. A bold mission statement, and one that is met by their prowess – find them here:

And, of course, the resident Bad Hedge prog-punkers (pronkers, for those time-poor folks for whom brevity is key), THE DISPLAY TEAM, will be making an appearance as openers, to get the juices flowing, as all good starters should:

This night is for fans of absolutely everything, especially if you like your music jaunty and your topiary askew.

Ta for now.

  • I should have told you...

...that it starts at 19:30, that it costs £5 to get in and that it's at The Miller, 96 Snowfields, London, SE1 3SS (near London Bridge Tube). If you don't come I'll know that your computer crashed in the last 30 seconds and you lack the capacity for lateral thinking.

  • I'm really looking forward to this.

You should look forward to it with me. And then come to it. With me. Be my friend

  • Sounds awesome

A kinda RoastFest Jr? Will try to be there.

  • Of course I did.

    I think. Whoops.

    Guthrie this'd this
  • It's almost Saturday.

And when it IS Saturday, this great gig's going to happen. Like Sting said, "Sunday'd be too late", so make sure you arrive ON Saturday. Arriving AFTER Saturday is likely to lead to disappointment. There doesn't even appear to be a gig on, so if you turn up after Saturday and there's no gig on, turn back, back in time, and come down on SATURDAY, because that's when it is. 7:30pm.

  • And now it IS Saturday

which means the gig is tonight. Come on down - the price is right (£5).

    • The cost of one admission is your MIND

I'll be there, wife in tow. If no other DiSer turns up then at least that'll be something. I reckon that £10 will be split with maybe £4 going to the bar and £2 to each band. Depending upon how many people are in The Display Team you'll be getting 40, 50 or 66 and 2/3 pence from us. Which is an ample tithe.

If you want to say hello, I'll be wearing...I don't know actually*. Latin teacher chic. Dark hair. Less beard than in my profile pic.

*would normally be my Melt-Banana t-shirt but I wore it last night to sweat off a cold and while it's mostly worked, it's also suffered the consequences

      • It was lovely to meet you both.

Thus far, nil points have been awarded to TDT but the other bands got paid which means we out-did half the other gigs in London and 'broke even', so there may yet be another Bad Hedge. I hope we'll see you there. Now, about that Lapsus Linguae album...

  • A plug, kinda - someone mentioned a Lapsus Linguae album...

I was a member of Lapsus Linguae, just trying to put the word out we have new records coming out posthumously later this year. Interested parties should be able to find details they need at www.lapsuslinguae.co.uk otherwise reply to this comment or send me a note or something, Penny x
