Sharon Van Etten at The Cargo.
I have to admit I find her albums\EPs average rather than brilliant which seems to be the consensus. The gig tonight however simply a great gig. The crowd were excellent too, (except the drunken suit in front of me slumped against the wall). What did you guys think?

lol
The consensus amongst whom?
Quite a lot of people I've spoken to
and myself included, the new one is particuly average considering how close to greatness Epic was
I'm off to see her in Brussels on Saturday
Can't wait. "Tramp" is absolutely stunning.
i'm a bit obsessed with the new record
previous ones didn't do it for me.
thought it was a good gig (might have worked a bit better as a seated gig, rather than a hot Cargo show). she was much chirpier on stage than her music suggests but made the re-tuning gaps bearable.
obviously i ended up stood next to the couple who didn't stop talking for the bulk of the show...
I got given a free ticket tonight having not heard her before
Thought the vocal work was excellent, though the songs in the main weren't particularly life changing. Stick her up against someone like Jesca Hoop and there's no comparison. However, maybe comparisons like that are unfair, I must say I enjoyed the gig and would probably listen to the album too. Definitely a bit in love with Moon Patrol / Tight Squeeze. Where do you find musicians/singers like that willing to play second fiddle?!
I see, she's Peter Broderick's sister
interesting!
* The gig tonight however, was simply a great gig.
Sorry for the typo.
Good to hear some positive reviews
Seeing her a couple of times in May and, probably, at Primavera. NYC taper's recent Bowery Ballroom recording is worth checking out.
I went to see her in a beautiful little venue in Brussels on Saturday night.
Absolutely stunning.
STUNNING!
She ain't no Nina Nastasia.
