it would be: American Pie by Don McLean
Guaranteed to make me leave any establishment it is being played.
just....everything about it
that this song being so popular has put too much pressure on old Mick when he's on the dance floor. Poor fella, I bet it's all eyes on him at that point and at 69 he's hardly strutting like a peacock anymore.
By KD Fucking Lang.
Obviously the three worst songs in history are Ozzy and Kelly Osborne's Changes, Beyonce's If I Were a Boy and Ida Maria's I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked. That's clearly beyond dispute. But they're all pretty avoidable these days. I've just realised I'm no longer ever in an environment where I'm forced to listen to music. Awesome!
On a side note, I like Don McLean. American Pie's over-played of course but Vincent, the Grave and Empty Chairs are all stunning.
just the one I hate hearing on the radio the most.
Must have heard it 500,000 times since I was a kid.
I am old.
I was trying to think of her name the other day, as an example of a flash-in-the pan indie tart who clearly decided to be a pop star as a gap year lark.
Didn't she claim to have synasthesia? What colour was her music then, grey?
Summer of 69
Dreary, overplayed shite
the Rick Waller version was alright
makes me want to tear my ears off
but I'll put this one right at the top.
Constantine by Something Corporate
Because I can spell Konfusion with a K and I can like it.
I actually like this song. It's pretty much a dictionary definition of overwrought, overblown, overlong and a bunch of other things prefixed with 'over' but it's so my favourite example of this kind of music, or anything even vaguely similary.
With you on Head Automatica though, that song is just about everything that's wrong with that kind of thing.
this piece of cultural detritus
I refuse to listen to that to determine whether I hate it more than the original, and I commend you for having the strength to do so.
how you came across this
not the worst song, but the most hated in the context of the REM back-catalogue
Or anything by Alexandra Burke :(
An unbelievably awful song, introduced to me by a friend when I was at school (he also didn't like it). Although I've got to the stage now where I've heard it enough it's become a standard joke as a completely dreadful piece of work, if I ever came across anyone who ACTUALLY though this song was good, I'd seriously question them.
No song mentioned in this thread thus far is anywhere near as hateful as the Black Eyed Peas' I Gotta A Feeling. We will all be subjected to it at weddings, sporting events etc for years and years and years to come.
