Seen this on Twitter, not sure if it's true but looks quite realistic:
Some good bookings on there.
2. That's a horrid lineup, headliners especially, but Public Enemy then Green Day could be great.
3. Keep us updated please, if it appears elsewhere it could well be genuine.
But I can see quite a few of those bands playing. Kasabian and Foos are pretty much nailed on according to EFestivals.
I'm not saying it IS real, but it definitely could be...
Most bands in the order I'd logically expect (feel like vomiting to see New Order subbing Kasabian) and all the bands on the list are realistically touring this summer.
Foos and Kasabian are logical choices and I've heard Green Day are R&L exclusives.
All in all, I think that is genuine. In which case, may I say...
WORST.READING AND LEEDS.EVER.
It's always been a dream of mine to see the Foos live, so fingers crossed they'll headline. I've also seen The Black Keys live and they wer egreat so I'd like to see them again, and I also think Gorgol Bordello would be good fun live. Tribes sound like they would be huge live, and I'd go and see The Maccabees cos (and I'm sure this is a pretty outspoken view on here) but I'm a big fan of their last two records.
despite the fact no one actually listens to them
But having heard some of their stuff in the past they certainly sound like they could put on a solid show. They probably go down particularly well at Reading and Leeds because it's such an energetic festival and it follows that Gorgol Bordello are an incredibly energetic band, therefore making sense for them to play.
EVERYONE loves them live, myself included... saw them at Readin 07 and it's still one of the most energetic and fun shows I've ever seen
I could weep.
(even though it's not the real New Order without Hooky)
they were transferred from the cancelled Phoenix festival. They couldn't exactly change demote Garbage from the headline slot when they did that.
And Prodigy played below Beastie Boys for the same reason. The only headliner that refused to transfer from headlining Phoenix to being second at Reading was... Ocean Colour Scene.
Viva Brother, Grouplove and Delphic all in the 4th/5th spots in NME tent. smacks of someone who has a passing knowledge of 'indie' who is scrapping the barrel and cobbling together a few hyped names from 2010 to fill slots.
also, I think Florence + the Machine are locked in for second-headlining one of the days
And she's apparently doing V, which would mean she couldn't clash with Leeds/Reading. Bestival too, according to reports...
Sort-of agree with the Viva Brother and Delphic thing though. Certainly, my main reservation was that Delphic are a lot lower down than I'd expect to see them.
We'll just have to see...
They had quite a lot of hype surrounding their debut in 2010, which was rightly deserved, it was a great record. However as far as I'm concerned they completely bombed at Glastonbury that same year and I've not heard anything that matches the initial hype since. People seemed to just stop caring about them after the first six months or so.
In 2006(?) the Long Blondes (I think) were right near the top of the original line-up and ended up basically opening the tent.
missing a couple of the big big names that usually go at the top/ near the top. you'd think there'd be a few more of those flying aropnd in a non-Glastonbury year.
We Are Scientists being anywhere near the main stage now, same with Gogol Bordello. Are New Order relevant enough for the Leeds crowd to second headline too? And when Slipknot were last meant to play I'm sure they were like second/third on, they haven't done anything since except have a member die to rocket up there
So it might be bollocks. If anyone actually cares.
Then we might as well stop trying. I no longer have any faith in anything if this is the state of music today. :/
I know they've got some old singalongs, but I can't really imagine any circumstances in which they'd be higher than Fleet Foxes or Vampire Weekend. Also, I could be wrong, but I think Bestival signs its headliners to exclusives, meaning New Order would be out. Still pretty plausible for a line up I don't actually believe.
Dizzee Rascal played at Reading in 2010 then Headlined Bestival.
as to this lineup, when did Black Keys get so big over here? and i can't believe either ATDi or Refused aren't on there. I'd be happy if that were the line up as i could probably miss the festival and go elsewhere with the money/ get a really late ticket for a tiny amount again. (yes i know the other stages might be amazing, but those bands are more likely to be available at other festivals.)
and I don't think Pendulum was a one off last year... I think they obviously aim for a degree of exclusivity, though, if you look at the likes of Kraftwerk, The Cure et al... and The Black Keys, I dunno how or why they got big, but they just are, they just did three nights at Ally Pally and they're headlining Cochella, it's very strange.
yeah they certainly seem to like their exclusivity, they've already tied Sigur Ros in to one (will probbaly be big top headlining to clash with main stage some main stage dance act) and The XX
have said Sigur ros and XX are second from top main stage, Bestival
I'm pretty sure Fleet Foxes wouldn't be invited to play R&L either, at least not that high up the bill.
still it doesn't really feel right, does it? - unless they're just going hell for leather and making the indie day an 'oldies' affair, I'd imagine they'd be more likely to bung somebody like Sleigh Bells into one of those slots. The fact there's barely a single band with a new album to promote on there bar the Maccabees is a little sussed.
are pretty much always great. If I could justify buying a ticket just for those, and if it wasn't so awful and teenagey, I'd probably go quite frequently.
This is either a) bull or b) shit, though.
which is a shame, because i'm all about the pop punk/hardcore etc stuffs, i guess just lslightly different stuffs.
it was awful when I went (2009), I think alexisonfire and Frank Turner played. :-/ Mind you, keep Less Than Jake every year and I'm in.
Chances of ATDI/Refused/Texas Is The Reason this year? I'd love to think so, but they'll probably just stick to Coachella.
the main stage usually has a few great acts on it, this one really doesn't to the point it feels like a 15 year old has just printed their dream line up and I refused to believe the organisers would be THIS lazy
if this is what he's happy with, especially over last year, which was actually great for me, then more fool him
which really made me want to go.
a nice mix of nostalgia and fun
I want another act this year of the "very old, still good" variety. Depeche Mode or something like that.
... but ultimately it must be fake. Surely it's far too early for them to be announcing the lineup seeing as it's one of the last festivals of the summer?
I'm not saying they won't have their artists booked but would the festival organisers really ask whoever designs the lineup poster to do it right now, ages before they announce the lineup, with a chance of it leaking? Doubt it.
Like I said, some good guesses, would definitely expect Twin Atlantic to be on early on a the main stage one day seeing as they're on Radio 1's A list. Think all the NME stage headliners are very plausible, but as someone mentioned above already, there's no way Delphic and Viva Brother would be announced as something to shout about. Can't see the Kaiser Chiefs up so high on the bill (even in Leeds) and New Order are meant to be Bestival exclusive so...
Someone on eFestivals made it, I believe. Slipknot aren't playing festivals this summer, and New Order are tied to Bestival.
real announcement is due March 12th
that's one of the worst line ups i've ever seen
nobody working for festival republic would have bothered to make a poster yet. that'd be silly.
Look no further than the Viva Brother booking.
so i doubt it's true. and yeah, good point about viva brother. last year they played to about 200 people in the festival republic tent, why would they move up to the nme tent? same with flats and delphic, surely no one cares.
Can't really remember it/find it again but I'm fairly sure it said Sum 41 and At The Drive In were on the main stage
According to Holy Moly
This is a fact.
Soundgarden then they got paid ££££ to play Download.
The Cure are cheap. All money spent on Foo's, who every festival wanted, obviously!
and had been rumoured before then?
Foos, Flo and Kasabian booked for months. The Cure only sorted last month.
Bowling For soup
Less than Jake
Pretty solid Reading festival punk rock there. Well, 10 years ago anyway, they aren't big any more are they? I happen to quite like Rancid.
I can't remember who, but one of them that's on that list said it's not real.
Tenacious D did play below 'Tallica in 2008, billed above Slipknot!
but either way, Flo Mac are under Kasabian, not The Cure
You must be joking!
No Lana Del Rey or Florence.
They were a bit...crap.
Anyway they were on before MCR and all the Slayer fans stayed to throw golf balls at them
and haven't been since. That was six years ago
Fuck I'm old.
Slayer does not work in the day time...
and on the other stage "Slayer Karaoke" but I couldn't find it
