Great songs under 2 minutes long
I have a short attention span today. I just tried to listen to 'Impossible Soul' and couldn't bear it, and to be honest I think even a 5 minute song might be a struggle. I should probably go to a doctor, but until then- what are your favourite songs under 2 minutes long?
Youtube links please!

loads more. Got work to do now. Bye!
Bye thewarn!
I've never really listened to most of these bands (except GBV), I shall have to delve further into some punk stuff as these are all good.
I should also be doing work, but at least when I try and do my dissertation a week before it's due I'll have a good soundtrack.
If you've never listened to Minutemen
Buy 'Double Nickels On The Dime' NOW!
Listening on Spotify now.
Brilliant so far. Just what I was looking for from this thread!

ah, fuck
just had half the youtube links when I accidentally closed the tab.
It's cool bro, it's a good list.
I admire the effort of putting the timing in though to prove you aren't cheating. 'Please Please Please...' is probably the most famous short song, perfect for a soppy advert, you might say.
Some good stuff I haven't heard before. Can't find the Hummingbirds or 'General Franco' anywhere mind.
you won't be able to find either of them
so it was a bit dumb of me to put them. The first is a one-time semi-successful 80s/90s Australian indie band, and the other is a very obscure 80s/90s Australian indie band — though, both bands featured the person that wrote one of the Lemonheads' biggest hits: Into My Arms.
*Into Your Arms
I see no YouTube links *eyes list suspisiously*
Now I'm actually going to have to put some effort in...
personal pixies favourite - rock music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v30hFJ-T0zw
One of the best opening tracks ever and a statement of intent both musically and in its title. CRANK IT UP!
Technically, it's not the opening track
but it should be.
you're right...doesn't say much for celia ann
Or maybe it just says how good rock music is.
yeah, I don't know why I didn't include that one
we're not gonna ma-a-a-ake it, no no!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tac71micVyQ
So so good, they even have time to mess the intro up and it still clocks in at 1.52!
Burial - UK
Wheat - Slow Fade
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzsAHytVOrw#t=1m52s
also Mudhoney - Fuzzgun 91
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWX3WRemtFM
Fugazi - Caustic Acrostic
Exactly two minutes long - youtube timer is lying.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RHqYtba2sQ
Maybe like ten other Fugazi ones too.
ahhh mega-this
fantastic, underated track
Radiohead - You Never Wash Up After Yourself
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr9r2rpTtiU
It's threads like these that take me back to trying to put together the perfect mix tape to play on my walkman, I had a whole list back then to fill in the little gaps at the end of each side that couldn't take a regular full song.
Wim Mertens - The Scene
Beauty.
http://youtu.be/dYGdj_3gjOg
Really really like this!
Makes me pretty pissed off I can't whistle though.
Everything by Zeke...
Mostly though Zeke - Let's Get Drugs
Also Cursed and Pulling Teeth have some cracking 1 minute long songs.
dead is dead - pulling teeth
is so fucking good
Hey gonad you testicle, i think you broke the thread.
Good song that though. They don't half fit alot into 40 seconds!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CkpQjF0YO4
Good shout. 'Judy Is A Punk' is also 1.33.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLq6KaWaQYQ
Lots of Ramones, and punk in general, is under 2 minutes. Seems a perfect genre for it.
Charles Bronson
pretty sure every song on 'Complete Discocrappy' is under two minutes.
When I'm feeling a bit ADD, J Dilla's Donuts is ideal
31 tracks, of which one is 2:57 (so ignore that one), and the rest are all under two minutes. Top album, partly because the tunes don't outstay their welcome and frequently end really abruptly.
Oh yes, one of my all-time favourite albums.
Kind of rinsed it this week since furryfan's Dilla thread though. Sort of what inspired me to make this thread! Plus, I don't really count them as songs, more beats. A lot of them seem incomplete and as you say, end abruptly- not that this is any detriment to the album of course.
My favourite changes week on week. 'Gobstopper' is on constant repeat at the moment.
Thinking about it, that's a sub-thread if ever i've seen one...
Favourite Donuts track?
Time: The Donut of the Heart
it is just so good
Totally
I like the work-in-progress feel of it, and the way that it does sound like blueprints. Loads of the tracks did make it on other albums of course(e.g. Ghostface's Fishscale, Raekwon's Cuban Linx II and DOOM's Born Like This).
Sometimes a beat is what you want when you're feeling antsy and you've drunk too much coffee to listen to a whole song with words.
Along these lines
Onra - The Anthem (1.51) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJBI4ckmB2M
In fact, most of his stuff on the Chinoiseries is under 1 min. Great stuff
Destroyer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muMJtcXcM2c
Husker Du - a quarter of Zen Arcade qualifies
Something I Learned Today:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBTN0xEA05w
This was the first song I thought of....
along with a slew of early Husker Du material that would qualify as well :)
Mansun - Being A Girl
Bang on 2 minutes, if that counts
bang on 8 minutes you mean
the two-minute version doesn't cooooount
The Webb Brothers - Cold Fingers
One of my favourite indie pop songs.
http://open.spotify.com/track/1Ie6DuNMRni2qxq5GAdpBB
Not on youtube :(
Archers Of Loaf - Might
Slightly over 2 minutes by a couple of seconds, but allow it because it is a 90s classic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrfpNboPj-I
Yep, great album.
'Fat' would also qualify at 1.19, probably one of the best break-up songs ever too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzoyHLBgwes
Harsh
I'd say Tom Jones was just big boned rather than fat...
:D
Copy and paste fail.

Jake Thackray - The Remembrance
Best known (by those who have indeed heard him) for his incredible comical ditties, but this is one of the best straight up anti-war songs ever.

cos how can it not be a Pixies song?
I go on youtube to find it and get the Pixies on Letterman with Paul Shaffer (?) and his band doing their best to ruin it while being transparently tumescent at being close to a band with an iota of credibility.

Come along if you can people, it's gonna be top fun. £5 entry, and you get a free meal with that!
