It's called Set The Ray To Jerry. B-side to the 1979 single.
Check it out! Really lush tune.
One of their finest. In fact all the 1979 b-sides are pretty strong.
The Boy, in particular, is a real gem.
The other one I really like it Here's To The Atom Bomb.
No, the Judas O version!
Medelia of grey skies or maybe the last song
it took me about 30 seconds to remember why i recognised it
I've really been into early Smashing Pumpkins demos:
Jennifer Ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csp06tLUcBo
Corgan had meaty riffs for days back in the mid-90s.
The Groover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7btG7ySJYU
New Wave A to G: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB7U854d20Q
...Jerry is wonderful, apparently recorded for Gish and Siamese Dream but never made the cut. Iha's believe is probably my favourite Pumpkins song overall.
Would have loved to have been at this show where Obscured and Pissant were played, both excellent live versions:
Been on a hell of a Pumpkins fest recently, not long to go til Oceania/Pisces reissue too.
the pumpkins b-sides are largely amazing, which is the reason they are one of, if not my favourite bands.
of course pisces iscariot is full of gems, but anything off the aeroplane flies high is brilliant
the second disc on rotten apples has lots of good ones from the adore/machina era also. i like winterlong, to pick one at random :)
but yeah, set the ray to jerry is one of the best
Obv. Incredible tune.
I bought the Thirty-Three single back in 1996 as an impressionable teenager, not actually realising what B-sides were. I thought if you got all the singles, the tracks would add up to the album.
I didn't understand the CD1/CD2 thing either, and I picked up the 'wrong' one here - I have Thirty-Three/The Bells/My Blue Heaven. I thought the Pumpkins were nice but a bit weird and olde-worlde (as per the Tonight, Tonight vid), and I gave the album a swerve as a result.
Had I got the other single, Thirty-Three/Aeroplane Flies High/whatever, I would have loved it, bought Mellon Collie, and life would have been different. Although I would have wondered why it wasn't on the album!
So that would be the Fringe other-side difference between me and other-me: which version of the Thirty-Three single we bought.
where it's from, but I really like their cover of Clones by Alice Cooper. Also, Cash Car Star came on shuffle today, good stuff.
I only own Mellon Collie and hardly ever listen to it, but someone put the Bullet with Butterfly Wings B-side ...Said Sadly on a mixtape for me once and it's one of my favourite songs.
